Good Ol' Eric....whenever he and a defender went up for a ball, there was no doubt who was coming down with it....always fun to watch.

Before that game, I used to get frustrated with the Neyland Stadium crowd...like crowds in Michigan's Big House, they would sit there until something good happened...they were not supportive enough of the Vols.

The Auburn game, in my opinion, broke away from the silent Neyland crowds. It was the first game in a long time that we were playing a No. 1 team, and we actually had a chance to win.

How did I know the crowd was ready for that game? There were 100,000+ fans who booed the Auburn band as they came on the field.

The crowd was ready. The players were ready. Great game!

Booing other team's band and teams is totally classless and distracts from the greatness of Neyland Stadium and the UT tradition. Creating noise and booing officials is a different matter.

Eric Swanson gave me some of his equipment after the Vandy game in '85. We were on the field and we hugged each other. I actually tried to hug every Vol on the field along with other fans...it was such a big year at that point...and became even bigger after the Sugar Bowl.

P.S. - The stuff Eric gave me ended up in two kids' hands during the celebration. The kids were about 11-13 and so excited and asked me whose stuff that was and asked me for it. I gave it to them. I'm still glad I did. The memory is much better than any solid momento.

P.P.S. My wife was from Pa...and thought we were all crazy. She knows better now.
