Former Tennessee Titan, Peter Sirmon, named GA at UT

This means lots more info and UT talk in the afternoons for UT fans who listen to Nashville radio. Plaster is a huge Sirmon homer and talked to him quite a bit through the season about Oregon. I would imagine at least once a week updates now. :)

I have listened to that show when Sirmon was on. Sirmon is a solid guy and I think will eventually be a great position coach.

CLT will probably be gone in 2 years or so. I think Sirmon will be on the staff for years to come.

Thats awesome, Sermon is a hard worker and a good guy. I remember one year at the Titans training camp we were hanging out just BSin after every one had went into the locker room and this guy was still out on the practice field running and hitting the sled like a bull. It was Peter Sermon, good hire.

I totally agree. They need to quit ignoring each other.

Peter was a great Titan. Glad he is a Vol now.

Cdd has a policy about his staff not talking to the media.

good hire. Sirmon was an overachiever and i think its always a good thing to have young coaches on the staff with recent NFL experience

That's awesome. His knowledge and instinct made up for his speed disadvantage in the NFL. I think it's awesome he is now with the Vols. He will pry have some good ideas.

So today we have derision of 18 and 19 yr old boys because they don't play a sport as well as we'd like, something about kiffin, something else about ESPN, and nothing about Peter freakin Sirmon coming as a GA??? cmon....

Well here ya go. Whatcha think of a 7yr pro helping out at LB???

Can we get him to dress out and put him on the field?

Peter Sirmon was a very disciplined linebacker who definately understood the gameplans each and every week; and think of whose gameplans those were. Jeff Fisher - Head Coach, Greg Williams - Saints DC and Jim Swartz - Lions HC. These are great defensive minds. To get him on staff as a GA is definitely a gift.

The more I think about this the more it makes me think how much respect he must have for Justin Wilcox. Sirmon just gave up staying with his alma mater and left his home to come here to work with him.

Purely speculation, but CLT may be a short timer. Maybe there he's the LB coach in waiting.

We will definitely be coached up at the linebacker position, with Thompson, Wilcox, and Sirmon. This placement puts both GAs on the defensive side of the ball.
