Former player bashes Kiffin

Whats wrong w promising a jersey number to a top recruit?

Nothing as long as you tell the guy you are taking it from first. Oh, and you might wanna tell him his lockers getting moved as well in the process.

I can understand him getting his feelings hurt but he needed to have gotten over that on day 2. He made himself look like a big crybaby. And for the coach to need to OK it with him is ridiculous. I wouldn't wanna give him a scholly to play for my school if I was a coach and have him bad mouth me over such a stupid situation.

kills me to see any "UT" fan defend kiffin.

Nobody is defending Kiffin. His actions in this case, or lack there-of, don't need to be defended.

This is only news because of two reasons: Campbell quit the team.
Kiffin was involved.

I'm not defending Kiffin since this move doesn't really need defending. It's being blown up by those who can't get over the hate and feel every move he made was wrong.

I would say he shared some blame, yes. I know Dooley said he wanted to make sure he told his players at LA Tech before he did anything else, and that was very important to him. I'm sure there were rumors floating around in Louisiana too, but it didn't break on ESPN.

this move was a little different. He has no control if someone at USC leaked it since they had been getting bashed for no one wanting the job

this isn't a team decision. The precedent it sets is that you have no claim to a jersey number if you aren't going to ever get it dirty.

this is such a ridiculous thread but I'm not surprised anymore
Some of these people will look for any reason to bash Kiffin.

no one is saying he needed to OK it with TC first... give him the courtesy of telling him of what was happening. i don't know how any of you can't agree with that.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? CAN YOU NOT READ ANYTHING IN CONTEXT? YOU'D THINK AMONG THOSE 25,000 POSTS YOU'D LEARN HOW TO READ SOMETHING IN CONTEXT. i said not one thing about how kiffin left UT. i was referring to making decisions and leaving notes to inform of the decision.

whoa. take a deep breath.

All I know is that if some of you were in Campbell's shoes, you wouldn't have such an "Aw Shucks" attitude.

It's fine to get your feathers ruffled a little but don't hold on to it months and then run to the media about it. It sounds worse than the story you're telling

he is still getting a free education and someone pointed out earlier how that was much more important to him. The only people affected by the change were TC and the 2 people in Neyland who owned #11 jerseys (his mom and dad)

Please. It's a damn jersey number.

So Kiffin could have just told Brown "Please. It's a damn jersey number." ? Some athletes, good and bad, have superstitions about the number they are wearing. To them it has a lot more meaning than just a number. The numbers were Kiffin's to hand out as he saw fit but a little common courtesy would not have been out of line.

If I were Campbell, I would have been glad to have a locker and still get to wear a freakin' Tennessee jersey.

If I was Todd Campbell, I'd be embarrassed to come out in the media and complain that I wasn't consulted that Bryce Brown was getting my number.

if Campbell was superstitious then he should have been glad to get rid of #11. Seems it wasn't really that lucky for him

The point is, if you're a receiver that has never and would have never seen playing time, you have no business acting as if you are entitled to a certain jersey number. Just be happy you have a jersey.
