Former Vol and NFL offensive lineman Tim Irwin on Drew Richmond:

"I don't think they wash his uniform very much because I don't think he ever gets it dirty. I don't think he plays with a lot of effort and I don't think he's that gifted. He looks slow and methodical and I don't see a lot of fire in him. We were so excited when he came here and he hasn't panned out. I hate to call out an individual like that, but I think it's the truth in that case. I don't think he plays with a lot of emotion and a lot of fire. Maybe his ability is not as good as I thought it was when he came here. I thought we had our tackle problem solved when we got him."

Truth hurts sometimes. Would love for guys with strong opinions, in any situation, to put their name on it .. but whoever this was is pretty spot on.

A certain former employee of Scout.com, who was usually spot-on in his recruit evaluations, and who was let go by 247 after the merger, said at the time that Richmond was extremely overrated, should not have been a 5*, and did not possess the feet or athleticism of a top end OT.

Unfortunately, these pay sites prefer to employ people who aren't football people, but rather, folks who tell fans what they want to hear.

One of those times a genetic prototype build stops at the build. With hard work and discipline things could happen. Good things. Im assuming based off people that know the situation better than we do. Those things haven't been added to the frame.

Most SEC schools have something similar to Richmond at their stadiums. They call it a turnstile....

More like a matador. It's embarrassing. When you consider the proud tradition of tough, physical o-linemen that this program has produced over the years, Richmond doesn't deserve to wear the orange and white. I'm so ready for this season to be over with. I can't stomach watching our offensive line play much more.

So why didn't Butchy Boy know that the guy was over-rated through evaluation. Oh....never mind.

Well, he ain't wrong. I watched him completely, and I mean completely, whiff on at least 4 plays. Each time it looked like he was in slower than slow motion coming out of his stance. Don't know if it's effort, a don't care attitude, ability or all of the above. Needs to sit for a while... One time I'm fairly confident in saying couldn't be any worse. Can't be worse than a whiff...

This is why fit matters when choosing a school...Richmond had a questionable work ethic in HS and he chose a school coached by a guy that lightened the S&C load and hired his under-qualified buddies to coach the OL. Makes you wonder if Richmond would have been better off with a more structured regime that you see at schools such as Bama....
