Dudes recruited at the best schools and in the best states for talent in this region. I doubt he needs your advice on what to do or not recruiting HS kids.

Nothing like the smell of hypocrisy after another disappointing Saturday in Knoxville...

So it's just shooting straight when some coaches to tell the world repeatedly that their players suck but when other coaches do the same, it's because they're pieces of crap, snake-oil salesman that refuse to take responsibility for the mistakes the team made?

Or disengenous terms that I've never heard Pruitt use. Do you have a link for where Pruitt has said "the players suck"? There should be more than 1 since it was done repeatedly. I'm assuming since we didnt post names that his message is to be taken by everyone in the program?

Posted this in another conversation with the willfully blind. Fits here as well.

Jeremy Pruitt on Tennessee’s 40-14 loss to West Virginia: ‘That’s on me’

"The most important thing to me is how your team plays, because how your team plays tells you what kind of coach you are,” Pruitt said during his postgame press conference. “Their team played better than our team did today. That’s on me. I need to get these guys to where they execute on a higher level, where they believe in their self. And I think we’ll do that.”

Jeremy Pruitt post-game comments following Tennessee’s disappointing loss to Florida

opening statement:

“First of all, you have to give Coach Mullen and his staff a ton of credit, created a bunch of turnovers. They executed, and that’s one me.. You have to give credit to Florida.

Jeremy Pruitt gets emotional during postgame presser following Tennessee’s loss at Georgia

Opening Statements.

"I said it last week, there were a lot of guys who played their best game last week for us and it was hard to tell that because we turned the football over. I said I thought I saw the right look in some of the guys’ eyes and I wasn’t wrong. Those same guys came out here today, they practiced this week hard and they didn’t let up.”
“I learned we’ve got fight in us, that we’re not going to quit, it kind of gets me excited. … I’m proud of them and the way they fought. … It isn’t easy. That team in red today tried to change the way we fought. That’s the way they’re coached, that’s the way they play. They play the right way. Our guys kept fighting which means we’re headed in the right direction and that excites me. That’s why I’m getting a little bit emotional.”

I'm gonna guess you probably heard some of these (which are just a few that come up in a quick Google search with very little effort to find) and willfully refuse to acknowledge them because it doesnt fit your rant.

I'm sure that's not gonna sit well but having your BS called out never does.

Call into "Vol calls" with your recruiting concerns. I'm sure they will be given their proper due. Lol.

After Kentucky loss:

Jones then shouldered some blame for a rash of penalties.

“Nine penalties is inexcusable. That’s on myself,” Jones said. “We talk about details accountability and toughness, that starts with me. It all falls on my shoulders.”

AJC no longer has the story but you can tell what was said by the headline and the comments here on VN.

After the Oklahoma loss

Jones wasted no time saying it was on him. "As the head football coach, I am responsible for the losses. I take responsibility," he said.

do what you want, but get some help for your OCD with Butch Jones -- he is gone from UT
He will be gone when his fingerprints can longer be seen on campus.

Essentially his spirit still remains until the cleansing is complete. That didnt happen over the winter of 18'.

I have no recruiting concerns and really have no idea why you think i do. However I can say with a fair amount of confidence that a coach with a losing record and who repeatedly blames his players will struggle to land a top 10 class.

If CJP can close the season out with 2 more wins and win a bowl game his recruiting will benefit greatly. However if he finishes 4-8 which is more likely he will be fortunate to land a top 20 class. And with what we've seen out of this staff so far is that if their talent is top 5 they don't look all that great.

Hopefully I'm wrong and he lands a to 10 class and wins 8 or 9 games next year but I just don't see it happening. Of course you folks will still have CBJ to blame for a couple more years to help deflect some of the deficiencies of this staff. In the end though their coaching will have to improve because we are not going to land talent equal to Bama and LSU and probably not UGA. And when your talent is lesser than the other sides you better be able to out coach the other guys.

And that has what to do with your false claims about Pruitt saying "the players suck" ?
I'm gonna guess it's not ironic you didnt find a link for any of those repeated comments.

Post you quoted.

"I doubt it. You can only have so much coach speak and blaming others without taking any sort of responsibility before recruits start turning the other way."

Your response.

"Something CJP should take into consideration"

So Pruitt should consider changing his philosophy on whatever exactly it is that he actually did. But you dont see it as a concern.

What's all the racket for then?

I'm not a Butch apologist. All those that called me an UGA Homer when I criticised the hire will attest to that. I just thought it was interesting to hear one of his players say why he thought Butch was no longer the Vols coach.

Rewind back to 2015. The Vols beat UGa. They beat SC. They beat Ky and Vandy by 25-30 points. They beat the #12 team in the country by 39 in a bowl game. They seemed to be on the verge of taking the next step. Some argued they should have taken that step this season.

A 2OT loss to Oklahoma, a 3 pt loss to UF, 4 pt loss to Arky and a 5 pt loss to Bama all haunted Jones. But rather than take responsibility for being too conservative, he panicked.

He blamed the defense. He blamed conditioning. In a bold move the fired his DC and his S&C coach. His S&C coach had been with him since 2007.

He said this was the beginning of the end for Jones. Jancek with his guys was better than Shoop with Jancek's guys. It just didn't work. S&C took a major step backwards. Teams had told the players on the 2015 squad that they were the most physical team they played that year. He said had Jones not made these two moves he'd still be at UT.
I can't figure out why in the heck you are taking all the blow back on this post. There is nothing that can be considered unreasonable about it at all

There's a new sheriff in town--and he knows the game for himself and won't back down for fear of offending some 20 year old's feelings.....

CBJ was all talk about mental toughness---but you can't lead players to BE what you are NOT.....

CJP doesn't suffer from that affliction....

I could see Botch getting an OC role before stepping back into HC position if ever. He should stay with Saban and try to ride that wave. Who knows, Saban could eventually promote him to OC. And then one day, I pray Alabama hires him to replace Saban. Lol.
One can dream lol

If any of you have any positives about Butch, then why are his wife and kids still here in Knoxville?

Can't figure out your point here.

But, as a family man, I can safely say that uprooting your teens from HS and college to yank them around to a temp job in Toothlessloosa would not be something I would do. The guys a multi millionaire so connecting regularly with her and them ain't difficult. The stability of ones children is paramount whether your a millionaire type or have a day job like me.

I've heard there are four types of answers to prayers: yes, no, wait, and you gotta be kidding. That one falls under the last one.
