Because JG is the better QB.

That’s all there is to it.

If we had at least somewhat a decent O-Line, it wouldn’t be as bad.

They struggled against Charlotte! How much proof do you need?

Trumpet Blower was a lying sack of shi1+ that quit on his team after the fans wouldn't accept losing to SC and Vandy in 16'. His 2 trophies that season come from winning games in Bristol and Nashville and he thought that should have been praised. He then tanked out to the worst season in program history. That's why he got fired.

He said this was the beginning of the end for Jones. Jancek with his guys was better than Shoop with Jancek's guys. It just didn't work. S&C took a major step backwards. Teams had told the players on the 2015 squad that they were the most physical team they played that year. He said had Jones not made these two moves he'd still be at UT.

so glad he fired those guys. i questioned the Jancek firing from day 1.But, now we have a real coach. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

CBJ and his offensive crew WENT into OSTRICH-mode in the 4th QTRs of the OK and FLA game....They NEVER adjusted to take what OK was giving them by continually blitzing in the 2nd half of that game....against Fla--it appears that CBJ and crew were afraid to allow Dobbs throw the ball....Our offense for those TWO games would've benefitted greatly from having Dobbs under center to run some old fashion bootlegs....

But JANCEK got himself FIRED because his defense couldn't stop 4th down conversions against Fla. the last one being the KEY ONE because he failed to blitz the house with 4th and almost 15....

But in retrospect--I agree....Jancek was not the overall problem on D.....

He is crazy. Dobbs carried Butch on his back. When Dobbs was gone the real Butch was exposed. Butch had the Rookie of the Year in the NFL as a back up running back for crying out loud. Hurd and JJ saw the real Butch way before we did. Kelly would have been a star running back on any NCAA team but Butch's. Butch knows nothing about development of players. If he does you can't tell it by what he left after he got fired. Many of his 5 star recruits left because he sucked as a HC.

Jones lost the team after the FL loss. We were on the 1 ft. line and ran 3 pass plays out of the shot gun. Then he blamed the loss on the players. He said he liked the plays called but the players failed. Any fool that has ever played one game of football knows you dont run 3 pass plays from the 1 ft line. We had a great running back and took the ball out of his hands.

There is no doubt that firing Jancek was a mistake. Just look at the result. Keeping a lot of Jancek's staff around didn't make sense. Jancek did pretty well as DC (though not great). He did allow a couple late game breakdowns, OU and Fla 2015 come to mind, but really firing him was not the key. I think had Butch stuck with him and been more patient, we would have been better off.

He was by all accounts very narrow minded and unlikeable as a head coach. Being buddy-buddy with the AD is a main reason why he stayed a year longer than he should've. His actions after his firing are all you need to look at if you want to see who the real Butch Jones is. How can you respect a man who claimed to be committed to your university for 5 years yet still goes out and gets hired by our biggest rival as an offensive INTERN? It takes a pretty special kind of snake to do that. Honestly would be surprised if any D1 university ever takes a chance on him again as a HC (unless absolutely desperate like we were with Derek Dooley).

Butch will get another head coaching job. It will not be a top program, of course. It won't be a small program either but it will be a program like. Wake Forest, Indiana, Maryland, Oregon State, SMU,
He will screw that up also and then he will get hired by lesser programs getting less money each job he takes.

wasnt it the ADs decision to fire him for inappropriate behavior with a student ?

Upgrading from Jancek to Shoop isn’t what got Butch fired. That was a good move. Butch’s problem was he didn’t know how to empower talented people to be great. Shoop was one of them.

All of these schools would be idiots to hire him. Hire a young aggressive coach even if it's only for a couple yrs. Rarely does hiring retreads who bombed in the big time work.

I could see Botch getting an OC role before stepping back into HC position if ever. He should stay with Saban and try to ride that wave. Who knows, Saban could eventually promote him to OC. And then one day, I pray Alabama hires him to replace Saban. Lol.
