Former 5-star DT Aubrey Solomon joining the Vols

It's going to depend on their reasoning behind asking for the waiver, but if fields is going to argue "The transfer is due to documented mitigating circumstances that are outside the student-athlete’s control and directly impact the health, safety and well-being of the student-athlete" like Shea Patterson did to transfer from Ole Miss, then he better have a better reason than, "could not clinch starting QB spot."

I think Solomon will get a medical-redshirt for 2018 and get his year of eligibility back, but I don't know think the NCAA is going to set precedent by waiving the transfer rules for him because he got hurt, and then decided he wanted to transfer.

He played in 5 games so the medical redshirt might be tough to sell:

• Contributed as a reserve defensive tackle and on special teams at Notre Dame (Sept. 1)
• Returned to action against Wisconsin (Oct. 13) playing along the defensive line and on special teams
• Assisted on two tackles at Michigan State (Oct. 20)
• Played nose tackle against Penn State (Nov. 3)
• Assisted on four tackles playing nose tackle against Indiana (Nov. 17)

There always has to be some nitwit comment. Yea, this class really sucks so far huh.
You don't know that he didn't pan out he still has two years. That's why they get for your scholarships instead of one year scholarships
If we add Crouch and Wright, you identify this as "an ok class"?!? I didn't see any blue font, so I have to assume you are being serious. Adding Crouch and Wright would put us in the top 10!
I don't see how anybody could possibly describe this recruiting season as a failure
because we really only missed on one person and that is Pappoe.

Relax folks. First, he won't help in the 2019 season. He has to sit out a year. Second, he missed a lot of games in Michigan due to injuries. It seems when we do get a high profile player, they arrive as damaged goods. Look back from 2014 - now and count them. Hopefully, he heals up and then lives up to his 5-star ranking.

Solomon is the 25th transfer from UM in the last 2 years. That is an entire recruiting class and doesn't count those who have ended their eligibility. Curious what their total scholarship number will be next year.

That should tell you something about Harbaugh. Probably a lot like Ditka and these kids can't handle it!

You relax, I'm going streaking!

Sports Reference and ESPN only have him down for two in 2018, maybe he dressed out but didn't play in the other three.

Hopefully he pans for us out similarly to former USC 5* DL Kenny Bigelow did for WVU this year after transferring to the 'eers.

Just have a feeling with all the good mojo the past couple of days that this cat gets cleared for 2019. Fulmers territory. Get on the phone coach.

Trying to understand why all of you are so giddy about this transfer. Understand he was a five star but that was two seasons ago and nothing I've seen posted leads me to believe he will be anything other than a good depth addition. Am I missing something?
