Forget last play -- Interference flag cost game

4th and 14 lost the game.

3 players in position and no one could make the play.

Watching that play , it looks as if the official was getting ready to pull the flag if the ball wasn't caught ... no matter what. Lucky for him it was. I know it sounds like we are just making up excuses for losing and to a point we are. But it's just that it happend so many times last year. Alot of suspect calls. Something isn't right. In my opinion they were going to give this game to LSU either way you look at it. Yeah , I will own up and admit we made a mistake at the end and lost on the final play , but it seems that was going to be the final outcome no matter what. Like it or not.

It's like the Bama game last year. Kiffin didn't run another play before the kick and said he wasn't going to give the officials a chance to give away the game. We kicked it and we lost. Didn't feel good to lose , but it didn't feel this dirty. I just wish we didn't give LSU a chance by letting them hang around. This one was gift wrapped for Lester.

When did the LSU limeman throw his helmet about 20 yards? Was the play over when he did that? Wouldn't that be an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty?

Bad PI call for sure.

Especially painful to lose like that -- when you thought you had it won and played well enough to win and deserved to win.

Several things can be second guessed. Should UT have kicked a FG instead of going for it on 4th & 1? Perhaps. Should UT have done a better job of chewing up clock down the stretch instead of snapping the ball with 12-15 clicks on the play clock? I think so.

Generally I'm not big on moral victories, but I think Vols fans should be proud of the way their team played yesterday. They deserved to win. It's a shame they didn't.

Good luck against the Dawgs!

You can find several things.
I liked the 4th and 1 call, we just didn't block it.

The 4th and 14 we give up on the last drive sucked.

Mike Slime has made it clear that an undefeated LSU coming into Tuscaloosa would be better for Alabama.

My gripe with that play is entirely different. We had a corner covering the left flat and our most effective pass rusher of the day (Walker) followed the back out to the left flat. We ended up with a three man rush when we needed to be in the QBs face.

This. This. This. All-day this.

That's my position, as well. I really disagreed with the playcalling on 2nd and short. Especially late in the game, with the clock on our side.

To me, that call on 2nd and 2 was the turning point, after which none of the crazy stuff may ever have come into play. I understand taking a shot at the big play on 2nd and short any other time of the game but not in the bottom half of the 4th with the lead and the momentum. And against a team with a history of short-clock problems. Work for firsts, stay inbounds, chew up clock. Even if we don't get the score, they take over the ball with a lot less time and a lot more pressure.

and they missed a blatant face mask when an LSU player ripped our QB's helmet off. Your point?

that is a new rule... opposing players are allowed to remove either their own helmets or other's at any time while playing UT.
