Yes and in Wade Houston's sixth season he won only 9 games.

When we compare a coach to a successful coach, can't we also compare him to an un successful coach?

So, Martin is somewhere between Wade Houston & Tom Izzo..... Better than Houston but not as good as Izzo.

Why is it some people think Hart can spend anything he wants? He's not the one who controls the purse strings. This isn't the time of Doug Dickey when the AD acted with autonomy. Hart has to go to Jimmy Cheek for money and approval.

I'm not for sure, but I'd be willing to guess that they built those programs and weren't left with much when they started... Zo was fortunate enough to follow a coach that wasn't fired for poor performance, so he adopted talent that was here already and underachieved with it.. There's no reason he shouldn't have won more games here.

And beat a top 10 South Carolina team that was supposed to win the East..Butch also just took over one of the worst rosters in the history of UT football with secondary players that were getting outran by punters...

U prob haven't been keeping up with it, but he's addressed those problems with a top 3 recruiting class in his first year, even after however many straight losing seasons.. I'd say he's earning his paycheck so far.

Just saying.

Hart has absolutely played this perfectly to this point. We'll see how good he is in the coming days.

He's done amazing recruiting, but so did Ron Zook. I was simply pointing out that Butch is pointed to almost as if he's a proven Homerun hire, I don't think that's accurate.

Zook is always brought up, but for every Zook there's a Saban, Meyer, miles, fisher who produce results with top classes.. Whether u wanna admit it or not, recruiting is the life blood of college football..and it depends on your definition of home run hire... He's won conference championships every other place he's been a HC and just defied all the odds in bringing in a ridiculous class with our recent struggles on the field, close to what Meyer and Saban did when they first arrived. Those r some good indicators of a homerun hire iyam.

Sure, but he's still not one, at least IMO. How many other SEC schools would target Zo as their #1 if they had a vacancy tomorrow?

if there was a Saban or Meyer for every Zook, half the teams would be outstanding and half would be chronic underachievers. The jury is still out on Butch if you judge by on the field results. I think Fulmer had a #1 rated class not long before his firing. Recruiting is huge and we had to have improvement over DDs classes so I give credit for that aspect but the Vandy loss didn't really instill a lot of confidence in field generalship.

I'll add that anyone but Dooley would've had a top 10 class this year due to our legacies and instate prospects. If he can sustain that level of recruiting 2 or 3 more consecutive classes I will be very impressed.
