This board is chock full of 'em.
Urban Dictionary: sunshine pumper

1. sunshine pumper

One who fails to realize the reality of a situation, and instead continues to support/ballyhoo a person, program, etc.

The sunshine pumper sees that their team and coaches are playing hard equating to good, when in fact the players are not performing adequately and the coaches have failed to properly recruit/train/coach the team.

But I heard our three-star seniors are better than anyone else's five-star underclassmen anyday of the week:loco:

Negative minded people are always Losers in life and are miserable people.

Their only real fun is to attempt to pull down everyone they can into misery like they live in constantly.

My condolences oh ye sad miserable loser but you can NEVER pull me down into the misery that you freely choose to live in.

I honestly pity these sad, pathetic people and I pray they get the psychological help they so badly need very soon.

May God bless and comfort them.

Also for your edge-u-macation:

1. nay sayer

a person or group of people who don't agree with your ideas based on their "hater" personalities

this group of nay sayers doesn't believe it will work because they don't want us to succeed.

1. negative nancy

Someone who commonly whines, complains, or looks at the bad side of things.

2. Negative Nancy

Someone submitted to an extreme amount of negativity

3. negative nancy

Someone who is constantly a downer and has a negative influence on others.

And this board is chocked FULL of these too.

Where do the realists fit in?

1. Optimist says: We stand a good chance of beating Bama in 13 with a new coach, some new talent, and the defense stepping up.
2. Realist says: We probably won't beat them but I will be there cheering them on nonetheless. Just want to play a good game, don't get hurt for next week (where we stand a chance to win), and be close at the end.
3. Pessimist says: We suck and there is no way.

Is the only difference in your mind between 2 and 3 how it is said or is there truly a difference between the two groups of people? I think the later.

remember guys, losing three straight seasons in a row with a coach who was, is, and always will be a loser (at least record wise) will cause alot of people to have some negative attitudes, it's just human nature to want to vent and express our extreme frustrations with our beloved football program.

It is a personal choice that I make to always have a positive attitude in life in general as well as with football. I am not a sunshine pumper. I know there is a very good chance with our given schedule that we will not have a great season this next year. However, I choose to believe in our football team and new staff until they prove me otherwise. And I actually have a football season to look forward to.

I am a "sunshine pumper",I guess. I believe we will compete for the East and win 2 of the big 5(Or,Fl,UGA,uA,USce) at least. I am actually a negative person in real life. I cheer for my beloved VOLS 24/7/365 and will defend them to the death of me. I like to think I`m a realist. WE HAVE BEEN OUTRECRUITING THE SEC MY ENTIRE LIFE AND ONLY HAVE 4 SEC TITLES IN 25 YEARS! I HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR A COACH WITH A KILLER INSTINCT! THAT`S WHY WE FIRED FULMER! WE COULD`VE KEPT HIM AND WON THE EAST EVERY 2_4 YEARS. I WANT NATIONAL CHAMBINOS! WE MAY NOT GET IT SOON AS I`D LIKE,BUT WITH BUTCH,WE HAVE A COACH THAT "GET`S IT" GO VOLS!

We could just use a more proper terminology. There are those who have been consistently right the past three years and those who are consistently wrong. It's not a matter of negative vs. positive. It's a difference between clear logical thought and outright stupidity.

The crazy thing is there are people that do not like the direction of the program. This is Tennessee fan site. We are all fans and those of us who have real concerns about the program cannot have an intelligent conversation about the program with most of you. There's a few of you berryforheisman77 is about the only Pumper you can actually hold a conversation with. About the concerns of the program. The rest of you say go away, your a idiot go away etc. Let me tell you a true idiot is a person that will run away and call names when questioned.

Misery loves company...

Just not my thing.

Life is full of choices so very simple either take an optimists or pessimists point of view. When it comes to supporting the Vols I'm sunshine pumper all day long as long as changes are being made.

Great thing about Butch Jones is he's a winner!!! Better days ahead.

It's almost a buyer beware situation with this program anymore.. Just when you think it may turn for the good something squashes it...

I'm neither excited or optimistic about the Jones hire, more like reserved.. In this case, it's going to be all about what is done on the field and nothing else.. VFL programs, meet and greets with golden oldies, all of that is nice, none of it gets me all stoked for vol ball.. Only wins and seeing a well coached team will do it at this point..

This program is at the lowest point that i can remember.. When you're mulling the possibility of losing two straight to Vandy , all isn't well on the hill..

A. Being negative doesn't make you a loser in life. If you don't have a bad feeling when you look at our program in its current state then you're oblivious.
B. This is a fan made website and people have different opinions no matter what the topic is, don't take it so seriously.
C. Being blindly optimistic has its place for this world but if you fail to see the negatives here then I question your ability to fully comprehend reality and my next question is where can I get those drugs?

I have no problem at all with people stating the facs about the condition we are in. However. There are fans (if you can call them that) who take pride in always posting negative comments. Never one thing positive to say.

Pessimism is a state of mind in which one anticipates undesirable outcomes or believes that the evil or hardships in life outweigh the good or luxuries. Value judgments may vary dramatically between individuals, even when judgments of fact are undisputed. The most common example of this phenomenon is the "Is the glass half empty or half full?" situation. The degree in which situations like these are evaluated as something good or something bad can be described in terms of one's optimism or pessimism respectively. Throughout history, the pessimistic disposition has had effects on all major areas of thinking.[

I think most people understand that barring some miracles we needed immediate impact DBs and a marquee RB if we're going see any significant improvement in 2013. We needed OL in order to not take a step back in 2014. None of that happened. Being honest and realistic, not negative, 2015 will now the the first and very likely the only chance that CBJ is going to have to show that he can move the dial in the right direction. CBJ was not a Grudenesque hire and his honeymoon was only going to last so long things were moving in a straight line. This was the first dip and it was a big one. It did not help him that other recently downtrodden programs outperformed him and his staff. In the coming weeks, everyone will settle down and then we'll all wait to see if he's a gameday miracleworker as some on here seem to believe. This is all part of the ebb and flow of rebuilding.
