For what it's worth?

Agreed. Nothing about SC causes concern. They may have a decent defense, but I don't see them scoring many points. It'll be a typical SC year of needing to win one of their last four to be bowl eligible, but they won't.

Arkansas is very perplexing - I dread it when they pop up on the rotation.
SC will have a top 3 defense in the SEC.

We're 9-3 against Arkansas since they joined the SEC. It bothers me a whole lot more to see LSU or Auburn on the schedule.

you know, you're right.....but here's why i have more anxiety over an ark, @ ark, than i do over LSU or Auburn.....

Ark is not widely considered a superpower, but knowing what we know about us and ark, they always play us tough, and have, at least the times they've beaten us, or almost beaten us, been sort of a trap game. we go in to a game against ark expecting to come out with a w.....somehow. in other words, ark just isn't sexy.........:)

now, LSU or Auburn.......that gets everyone's attention, and in most seasons is viewed as a game that presents a BIG opportunity to have a GOOD season.......whereas, you beat Ark, it's just another W.

does that make any sense?

We haven't lost to Ark at home since 1992. We won in '94, '96, '98, '00, and '02 (didn't play them in '04).

I just don't see us losing that game... IF we really have toughened up like is being indicated.

I don't see Ark outcoaching us... they just beat us last year by out-physicalling us (if thats a word). South Carolina can beat us through coaching... so unless our talent is light years ahead of USCe, the game worries me. And I'm worried, b/c USCs is slowly catching up in the talent dept.

Right now in my mind it's just talk, I'll get excited after we play Florida (or really pissed).....

makes perfect sense except that this year Ark has some national pub thanks to McFadden. So this year as opposed to many others this game could show up on the national stage simply because of the Heisman. I need you to feel my pain, several members of my family graduated from Fayetteville (and of course they work for Tyson) and I hear about it all the time. The General is right, they flat out pushed us around last year. We are light years ahead of UA in terms of overall talent, but they beat us down last year.

I wouldn't exactly say UT was light years ahead of the 2006 Arkansas team in terms of talent. Look how many of Arkansas' key contributors went in the NFL Draft this year (and how high they went) and the best player of the bunch is still there... but, I, along with everyone else that's been here awhile, understand the intention of you saying that.

All I have to say is that if we start 3-0, and that's a BIG IF, than we all can start getting very excited. Through the rest of the season we should lose only one game at most. I can't stress enough how important those first three games are.

For the same reason I would like to see the Braves get into the playoffs as a by-the-skin-of-their-teeth wildcard and not as div. winner, I'd like to see the Vols take Cal late in the game after a grueling march downfield to take the lead with only seconds left. No 35-0 early in the third quarter; just a character-building game of lead changes in which we come out on top because we want it more. I know a win is a win, and its fun to watch the Big Orange run up and down the field all day, but I still say a gut-wrenching, hard fought win will do us more good in the long haul than a self-soothing, feel-good blowout. Anybody agree?

It Does My Gut No Good Though- Vols Always To Dominate. I Get Your Point ,but Confidence Can Be Gained By Blow Outs Also.?

Well, certainly it can, but a blowout against Cal again would bring back some unpleasant reminders of last season, where THAT blowout didn't exactly lay the foundation we were hoping for.

IT SHOWED A GREAT HUNGER THE TEAM HAD AND THA FACT THE EX-SPERTS WROTE TN OFF MADE UT LOOK PREETY GOOD. BUT I AGREE WE HOPED FOR MORE. 2005 WAS SUCH A LET DOWN 2006 IS WORTH BUILDING ON.
