well,i think this is actually a lot less risky than Kiffin, Dooley and Jones. but what is that really saying?
at least this guy knows what championship staffs, rosters and programs look like.
Well out of the 4 coaches in the playoffs 3 of them were coordinators and had no HC experience, so there might be something to that.
So we can expect Pruitt to have UT in the playoffs next year then? For every one you find that does succeed as a power conference HC, you could find 5000 that do not. That is a crap shoot plain and simple.
I think the main appeal with Pruitt is that he is extremely familiar with the territory Tennessee has to recruit in order to win.
He's worked in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. The only territory he doesn't know well (assumption here) is Western North Carolina.
There is nothing in his resume that says he is incompetent and is sure to fail.
So, if he's the guy, I wouldn't jump off a bridge.
So what you guys are saying is that there is a chance that soon fulmer is going to have to stand beside another Alabama coach and extol all his Alabama virtues and the wonderful things he learned from the greatest coach in college football at the greatest football program.
And fulmer is going to do this, really?
i think that's probably the tone most are taking, despite some vocal displeasure with the thought of this hire.
if he's it, how does this guy succeed here? and recruiting and staff are the answers. and he apparently has the chops to recruit.
and listening to the radio this morning (and i have no way to verify this, you might be better able to do that given your proximity) it at least appears there was some contingent of FSU fans that were clamouring for Pruitt to come to Tallahassee before Taggart really came into play.
and he did interview at MSU. so while there wasn't an all out bidding war going on for his services, it at least appears he was on someone else's radar....fwiw.

Muschamp hasnt done squat at Carolina.
They are 8-4 and are 8-4 because Florida and Tennessee are 4 win teams. And Tennessee and Florida could have won that game with the crap they put out on the field.
McElwain was garbage and was fired for it. Tired of he won the East
Because of close proximity to elite head coaches, ask yourself this. Nick Saban runs the best program in college football and it's not even close. Just as players line up to play for him, coaches line up to coach for him. He once had a staff with 4 former HCs on it, and when he needed a new OC he got a guy from the Patriots. If Pruitt isn't the real deal then why did Saban go out and get him? He started out in an administrative position and the guy has gone straight up the ladder. Ask yourself why FSU won a NC with him but can't even win the ACC now that he's gone. Sure it's easier to recruit to FSU and Bama than it is to other places. But it's also easier when you've got coaches that players are naturally drawn to. Pruitt is just one of those guys.
My problem with him is that he has changed jobs constantly for almost lateral moves. He does well one year he may jump ship like Kiffin or Taggert.
Like most all the rest of y'all, Pruitt's being considered as UT's next HC first came to me as disappointed surprise, then curiosity, then I began wondering why all those other schools' ADs haven't been interviewing him, well before Fulmer became our AD. I'm impressed with his track record as a big-time DC for three (count-em) extremely successful programs. As aforementioned, he's at the top of the SEC pack of recruiters and coordinators. He's already a big Mo street fighter in the SEC hood and, if he's our new HC, then I'll be pleased.
 I didn't know you could time travel into the future!
So how is ole UT doing in 2020? Bless us with your wisdom. :lolabove:
