Just look to when Kiffin left, we went after Muschamp who turned us down, and then David Cutcliffe who also turned us down. We chose Dooley over Calhoun. Dooley & Calhoun were our top 2 finalists.

IF we fire Dooley this year, and at this point it is a 50/50 shot it will happen. Were not getting Gruden or any other Superstar College coach. It just won't happen.

Yes, Muschamp turned us down as UF offered him a million dollars more. Cut turned us down as he was not going to be allowed to pick his own staff. I am not sure why people ignore the fact that Hamilton was NOT offering top SEC money. As I have said, UK is the only coach paid less than UT's in the SEC. VANDY pays their HC more than we do. Expect to lose.

It's suddenly all so clear. This guy says its not happening. If only he had said something earlier, his opinion would have saved us all a lot of time and effort.

If I had only known.

No one wanted to come here because our roster was depleted. The story is a lot different this time.

First off it was the timing and lack of talent why we could not get big name coach. We can get big name coach if we are willing to pay what Alabama is paying Saban or do like Michigan getting Brady Hoke and hire solid name good name. It is about getting the right guy. Getting the right guy means you will not have to wait 2 or 3 years again either.

If you have the money......they will come. Get out of here that we can't get a superstar coach.

We are UT !!!!!

UT -- a top program with top 5 facilities, huge fanbase and tons of cash. For enough money, UT can hire anyone.

I'm not sure what the winning numbers will be, but I feel pretty confident in predicting that you won't win it. (See how I made your analogy apt instead of absurd?)

Throw Nick Saban money and the good coaches will come.

I don't think you even need to throw Saban money out there. I think 3.5-4 million would do it. ALOT of great coaches around the country make 1.5-2.5 million dollars. If you want them to step up to the SEC grind, they need to be paid to do it. 4 million dollars gets us back to being competitive. Maybe throw 3.5 at Holgorsen and tell him he has a million dollars to hire his DC(not bring the one from WV with him). I would take that going forward as the possibility of getting back to being UT.

Saying no ones wants the Tennessee job is ridiculous. Folks at that point when Kiffin left wouldn't have taken the job based on 2 weeks before signing day, they didn't want to slap their schools they were with in face. Most of the coaches had high character in that regard. The fact that we hate Kiffin is kind of offset because we did the same thing to Louisiana Tech robbing their coach before signing day. If a dismissal or resignation of Dooley happened early enough like November then expect us to get in on big time coaches especially with Harts drive for mens athletic excellence.

Calhoun turned us down and I was hoping he was going to be the next head coach...Cutcliffe said no because we wouldn't let him bring all of his losing assistants with him...He belongs at Duke...You have absolutely no idea if we would get Gruden or not...Why even say we won't when we have never even tried yet?

You do realize Hamilton will not be in charge of the hiring process this time, right?

I saw someone post that the roster was depleted; that's true. I also saw someone post that we could've offered a ton of money for a top tier coach and they'd come; that's possibly true too. What hasn't been pointed out yet is that we were being investigated by the NCAA. No up and coming coach or experienced top tier coach was going to come in to all of that.
