Everyone said the same stuff about Bobby Bowden they say about jones now. Took him a while to get it going. They weren't sure he could get over the hump and win at that level. You don't just step on the field and expect to win. I don't care who you are.

Jury was out with OK and UF and the defendant showed up with bloody hands and a knife to AR. He may be innocent but damn make it a little easier to figure out.

Btw we just lost to an Arky team at home that is signicantly less talented than us.

Even Dooley's classes were superior to anything Arky was doing

1) Preston Williams fumble

2) Aaron Medley's missed FG

3) Alvin Kamara 's punt return called back on the penalty

Any 1 or 2 of these plays could have changed the outcome of the game. The OL & DL were taken to school on Sat night.

Bobby Bowden went 5-6 his first year at FSU. The next year he went 10-2.

How is the jury out on Florida? They just dominated a team that's beaten Alabama 2 years in a row.

Not many teams can say that. Florida is good. They've always has good players and recruiting classes. They finally got a great coach. Which is all they were missing.

Good point. He's only in his third year as a head coach, so all of the really basic errors in game management, the baffling schematic decisions, and the lacking assistant hires should be ironed out over time.

Maybe by his ninth year as a head coach he'll start getting it right.

Liars figure and figures lie. You can prove just about anything you want simply by manipulating the numbers.

As opposed to your incessant sarcasm which I'm sure is just as enjoyable in these (assumed) very adult, real world, "hangouts".

You dont hangout with friends?? With as much negativity as i read on here there is no way these people are enjoyable to be around.

I'm saying jury was out if losing to UF and OK was bad. Your point is correct those were good teams we lost to. BUT THEN we went and lost to a team that Toledo beat at HOME. Call it whatever you want I support Butch staying for now but the sum of the ouput is losses. Lots of close not so close losses.

I think it's funny everyone is falling over themselves for whittingham (another mid major coach). You know how long it took him to make UTAH what they are? Like ten years.

Won 9 games year 3....13-0 in year four, followed by 2 consecutive 10-3 seasons in years 5 and 6 ...has had 2 bad seasons in 11 years....currently one of the best teams in the country...at Utah. So....it didn't take him really anytime to get them winning at a high level...certainly nowhere near 10 years.

Do you ever actually take the time to confirm that your opinion is remotely aligned with reality before posting? The answer is obviously no.

You either die the hero or coach long enough to see yourself become the villain

Geez I knew it was a mistake putting this on here. You do realize Dooley left us with scraps? Let's just fire him and start over again. And in 3 years we can fire that coach and start over again. This is why national media and other schools have so much fun with us! Now I'm getting livid again!

How in the hell do you think this is relevant or my point? It's about perspective and a little bit of reality. It's a tough lesson and you'll slowly learn in time.

I remember a time from the mid seventies through the mid eighties sometime when people were wondering if he would ever get them over the hump or if he would be a richt type 9 win a year kind of coach... maybe I'm wrong though. Seems that way in my mind though.

Very very few are advocating ditching Butch right now. Many question the necessity to justify some of his losses anymore though. Give us one close win to a good team. One

Had a bit of interesting info shared with me at work the other day. My boss, who is a big Michigan St. fan and grad, has been through this with Dantonio and look at them now, a national powerhouse year after year. He took it upon himself to figure up our average margin of defeat over the Butch era. The numbers are as follows:
2013- 24 pts
2014- 13.5 pts
2015 (so far)- 4 pts

To me that's improvement. It's all about learning how to win. I'll admit I was livid after the florida game but I've calmed down now. Give the man at least one more year and if no improvements next year then I'll help pack his bags. Flame away haters and GBO!

Your Boss must have really suffered in Dantonio's early years. Let's just take a look ...

1st Year record was 7-6 and lost the Champs Bowl.
2nd Year's record was 9-4 and lost the Capital One Bowl.
3rd Year's record was 6-7 and lost the Alamo Bowl.
4th Year's record was 11-2 and lost the Capital One Bowl.
5th Year's record was 11-3 and won the Outback Bowl.

6th Year thru this Year he went 7-6, 13-1, 11-2 and 5-0.

WOW ... your Boss really suffered. Every year Dantonio went to a bowl and never had a losing record during the regular season.

I only wish Botch Jones was this BAD.

Sorry ... this thread is a FAIL ... but please play again.

Getting over the hump is a bit different than actually winning.

Butch has to actually win games before we worry about him getting over the hump and winning titles.
