That are crying about other schools and their "TOP TIER HIRES". Or the ones saying we needed a VFL, etc. Guess what? Those guys didn't want to come here. Screw them, we got a guy that has improved every defense he has been part of. He was a finalist for the Broyles award twice, which is awarded to the best assistants in the nation. He has been part of 3 National championships. And he Is one of the best recruiters in the land. The best damn coach in CFB history thought so much of him, that he hired him on multiple occasions. Not to mention he develops talent. The best part about him? HE WANTED TO COME HERE. He's a converted Bammer. One of the things we admired about Butch was his ability to recruit and stepping up to the mess no one wanted a part of. We owe this to Pruitt and y'all will admire the same thing in him later. Butch had us competing in 2 years, should have won east on 15-16. Just imagine what a competent coach will do. And remember how proven Shoop was? How'd that work out?

This IS a great hire. Get on, or get off

Pruitt sees us as big easy paycheck and a stepping Stone back to bama when Saban leaves. I hope Fulmer put in his contract he must beat bama or lose his bonuses and his buyout decreases by 1 million each time he loses to bama.

If Pruitt is successful here, he might have second thoughts about following a legend (Saban) and trying to match his success. It hasn't worked out too well in the past for coaches that follow a legend.....Think Pat Summit.

Fulmer is obviously too stupid to do that. I mean look what coach he hired.

Personally I think with what we had to choose from it was an excellent hire. Head coaches were not exactly breaking our doors down wanting to coach at Tennessee. Considering everything involved I consider it a homerun hire. Just my opinion. Perhaps you had rather have Nc States coach.

This IS a great hire. Get on, or get off

And the reasons are any all of the following

1. We aren't fronting enough money for a championship quality coach. We heard early that $5M would be our ceiling. The avg salary of 10 coaches is almost $7M. You get what you pay for ergo UT is not committed to being a top 10 program.

2. The administration is incompetent.

3. Power hungry Diamond Boosters have created a toxic environment.

So, yes you are right. No top coaches want to come here for these reasons, but I damn sure don't have to be ok with it nor will I accept it. We just hired a guy with less experience than the last three numbnuts because he gave a great interview. I'm sorry but at UT we shouldn't even have interview the guy we want or to know he is interested and capable. So, bye. See you in three to five years when we do this again.

I definitely buy into the possibility that Pruitt is using this to audition for the Bama job when Saban leaves. A lot of people think Dabo would only leave Clemson for the NFL. The good news is that even if this just the audition stage for Pruitt, he’s got to do good things to get the gig.

Happy we have a hire. Happy we can turn the page on Jones and this staff. Excited to see who Pruitt surrounds himself with. That is what makes or breaks a head coach....the ability to identify and surround himself with great assistants and players. He's going to set the tone and personality of this program under his watch. From what we had to choose from, he's as good as we could have hoped for. Frankly, I was convinced we'd have Steele. Let's get on with rebuilding this trash heap of a program.

If he is successful enough to be in the coaching search when Saban retires, we’ll be in pretty good shape. I’ll take that chance.

Schiano was a DC.. Pruitt is a DC. This search never changed in the direction it was headed. Got to give the guy a chance. This whole deal though overall couldn't have went any worse. UT only has UT to blame for the self inflicted incompetence. We're still playing musical chairs with coaches.
