Show me another 5 seed who is set up better to make a run. Can't do it? Didn't think so.

I'm not entirely sure what's so great about our 'set up'; we play, potentially, two guard-heavy teams that can be lights-out on any given night. We know how that south carolina game worked out for us, so I don't know what's so enviable about drawing LBS and possibly UVA. Va. tech has freakin' illinois and then the salukis or the crusaders; Butler gets ODU and potentially davidson, so I mean: call it a wash. Trojans got hosed with an underseeded Longhorn team at the 5 spot, but matchup-wise, I don't see that our stretch is so enviable.

also: what?

haha, a better structured response than i thought i would get. Don't count out Illinois vs. Virginia Tech, they have a great shot at winning that game. We will destroy LBS, bank on it. Our "bigs" will have a field day. Then we would match up with the weakest 4 (but still a decent team in Virginia) Add two teams we have played well against this year, I don't think we could have hoped for a better draw.

I have also said it once, and will say it again, I won't be surprised in the least if we are the only 5 seed to make it out of round 1. Butler is a joke, we would beat them at this point of the season, and they will lose to Old Dominion.

Butler is without doubt the ugliest team I have watched play in this years tourney. When I say ugly their play isn't ugly but they are actually goofy looking dudes.

LBS has 7 seniors on their team. If there's anything this season's loss to Butler taught UT, it's that inferior talent that plays well as a team will win most of the time. UT showed in the LSU game that it still has problems playing as a team (the blown play with 7 seconds to go).

I think UT will win this Friday, but I doubt it will be the cakewalk some are predicting.

Long Beach St is the weakest 12 seed and Virginia is the weakest 5 seed. UT has already played OSU tough in Columbus, yeah it was a good draw.

virginia is actually a 4, but now that you mention it, they are certainly the weakest 5 :)

We are pretty lucky. LBS probably should be around a 14 seed. We still may struggle but they have nothing down low so hopefully Chism, Crews, and Childress can dominate. I definetly would rather have LBS than any other of the 12 seeds

Weak or not, the matchups are favorable given our lack of any real inside presence.
