Just stop already... UT recruits itself, hell Dooley had at top ten class and 3 classes that averaged 13th. Want to know what recruits like? They like coaching staffs who obviously have their **** together from a scheming and playcalling approach.

Get a coach at UT who knows what he's doing on gameday and you'll see some real recruiting and STOP talking as if Butch is the only guy out there who can recruit at UT!

His excellent recruiting adds to reality that he's just not a top tier coach. I mean, it's not like he's blowing these leads with 2 and 3* players.....NB4 Jumper.

Anybody who doesn't see that Butch's recruiting is light years ahead of Dooley is clueless. Butch's problem is developing the talent once it gets here.

Good point. I just think some of the younger UT fans may think that Butch is the only guy out there who can get top 5 classes, and that's just not true.

You're missing my point. Butch has done fine recruiting, but there are many, many other coaches who would do just as good, oh, but can also coach.

Now that butch's weaknesses have been exposed,
His recruiting will begin to decline.
It is what it is

Dooley was not good at recruiting and Fulmer had some pitiful classes for a school that recruits itself. People need to realize that's simply not the case and there's a reason our recruiting budget is huge

The only reason Dooley (and Fulmer late in his tenure) failed in recruiting is because they stopped trying. Anyone who puts in the effort can get talent here. No matter what the Battered Fan Syndrome crowd says, UT does have a lot to offer.

Fulmer recruited and had committed Tajh Boyd and Bryce Petty. We know how they turned out.

Class rankings mean jack when you don't recruit what's needed. Dooley put us in the hole because he never recruiter over Kiffin's guys, half of whom washed out. Thus Dooley picked up a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book and never looked back. It's why we had no offensive lineman commits in 2012 and our depth is taking so long to recover. It's also why we have no help at MLB this year. Bynum was the only LB recruited in 2012- Greg King (transfered) was converted to LB, but he was never going to make much of an impact. Butch Jones makes this SAME mistake in 2013 where he only took Reeves Maybin (an ATH) and Vereen (a prospect many figured was too big and slow for MLB; more of a DE). You have to fix your problems at home before you take your next steps in recruiting. So while Butch may be an "elite" recruiter, he definitely isn't an elite roster manager. There have already been a handful of Butch's recruits who were washes (8 of the 18 4 stars in the 2014 class are gone and 10 of the 22 recruits from the 2013 class are gone). Attrition is higher than it should be for a coach who is looking to rebuild depth.

Good post.

Pointing out the errors in your post had nothing to do with denial. Try and make sure your facts are actually that before you present your argument

You still haven't even understood the point of the post. Stop swinging from Butch's sack long enough to comprehend other opinions.

I know he's struggling right now, but Charlie Strong would KILL it recruiting for UT.

Charlie Strong can't even kill in recruiting in Texas so how would he have killed it here????
