I'm satisfied with yesterday's performance from both the players and coaches. However, we should have just went for it on that 3rd 4th down. And medley has only gotten worse with experience this year. He's around 50% this year which is awful.

So playing Bama, a team who was being favored by like 15 points by Vegas, within 1 score and keeping them under 21 points when we were missing 2 starting D-lineman, two starting O-lineman, and one of our most productive wide receivers is a bad job by the coaching staff?????

I agree, for freaking sake, you need to stop being a dumba$$.

This is it.

In the games where we had the lead in the 4th qtr, and came out on the losing end, it was not the Offense, it was not the coaches, not the D-line or linebacker, and I would argue not the kicker that lead to a defeat.

Each time, it was the secondary being challenged to make the stop... just one key stop and I think we would have 2-3 more Ws. Late in a game... the focus will be to attack down field, if our secondary is not up to the task, then you get these results.

Give Medley a break... he did not lose this game.

Yes, exactly. The OP sounds like an eight year old in the back seat of a long trip. No one is accepting mediocrity. Any successful person will tell you of their struggles, their dedication to hard work, their commitment to a process of systematically getting better and that all of that "success" took time and perseverance. It rarely happens overnight or in this case a season or two. They will also tell you that they made and learned from their mistakes. All of that applies and in many ways is more of a challenge on an organizational level. Butch was left with a bare cupboard. To compete at a high level in the SEC we have to have talent not just in the starting lineup, but at 22-80 in the roster. We are getting there ahead of schedule.

Stop the whining with "why aren't we there yet?".

Why? They have a terrible QB. Why do we have the chicken sh!+ mentality when it comes to Bama? We had them yesterday and our corners just lost two match-ups to great athletes.

What Chicken shi+ mentality? What does that mean? We played a top ten dynasty team to the wire on the road. We were a double digit underdog playing with a long IR list. Some of us noted the team played well and is competing at a much higher level and is moving to being a contender who wins these games with more depth.

Debord actually called a good game yesterday.,,,hate on him for other decisions in other games if u want but doing so on yesterday game just doesn't make sense....

I don't disagree but at what point does it stop with this staff? Or more broadly the program itself?

Have you taken a look at the secondary next year? If Sutton goes pro... guess what? The secondary is suddenly "young, thin, and inexperienced". Two of the TE's who are playing very much are Srs.

My point all along has been that there are always excused if you are looking for excuses.

They've been hit with injuries but this staff frankly seems to be "injury prone". But even if they weren't, a staff ALWAYS has to deal with injuries or position groups that aren't ideal in depth, experience, and sometimes talent. The difference between the great ones and all others is that the great ones overcome or minimize the impact of those roster deficiencies.

So again, how long before the excuses stop?

The coaching overall was very good IMO. That kind of "assertive" approach to game day would have beaten UF and OU.

But there is always something, isn't there?

Saying we shouldn't be in the game is what I take issue with. Our players played to win and our team is good enough to win. We are very talented and should not bow at the Saban altar. We should "be in" every game and expect to.

Someone (ahem) tried to tell folks here that UT was much closer than they were thinking. It was a really well coached game.

I don't think any of us would have predicted that amount of success on D or that the game would be close with UT scoring less than 20.

I do think we were right about the game key. Dobbs needed to have a huge day. Bama was able to limit him.

Playing the deep safety and making the switch at corner made a big difference. Well coached game and well executed defensively by the players. We have a talented roster and shouldn't still have the mindset we had three years ago.

Honestly the defense did their job. Offense only scoring 14 isnt gonna cut it.

Too bad some of you don't see the transition from dumpster fire to CBJ building a formidable program. Even some Bams are smarter than you douches
