stop with the senseless sunshine pumping and blowing smoke up everyones ass. Some of you continue to post these unsubstantiated outlandish claims about how great the next coach is and how superior his recruiting will be blah blah. You are wrong and after coming up with every known excuse we just move on to the next hire AND it starts all over again. Smh.

Nobody was wrong about anything. He had a solid recruiting class. Sorry factual information bothers you but you will have to just deal with it.

What are we talking about here? No ut coach achieved more during the off season. Granted was for our arch rival.....

He gets to prove himself a good to great recruiter in '19. A top 5 class will prove to be exactly whats necessary to compete in the SEC. NO lower than 3rd in the conference.

I was a little disappointed with how we finished Wednesday mainly at Cb but I'm also realistic. Pruitt stepped into a tough situation. It's just our luck we had to hire a coach during the first ever early signing period.I think the biggest get we got was Pruitt himself. I think him and this staff are light yrs better at developing talent than Dooley and Butch's staff. I can understand the trepidation too. I got tired of all the excuses for Dooley and Butch.I'm calling 7-5 next year with a top ten class.jmo Go Vols!

I think CJP has a lot of potential here and I think it's ridiculous that people are pissed about a #20 recruiting class based on what he walked into, but "I thought we done really good" for whatever reason doesn't provide me a lot of reassurance.

I know i got fired up watching Pruitt's interview with Chris Low the other day.

Being reminded 3 times in a 2 minute interview about UTs recruiting class that Alabama won the title was awesome. I could almost see the championship osmosis occurring right on the screen.

[Soft weeping with bouts of mournful wails] [incoherent mumbling]

The Ballad of NegaVols

Well, I’ve made up my mind, decided to throw my Vol faith away.
Decided to be so pessimistic no matter what you say.
Been disappointed way too long.
Thus my sad brokenhearted song.
Oh, the grief I’ve endured, the bitter shame and;
I don’t expect anyone to ever understand.
I’m bleeding from every orifice;
No word of comfort will ever suffice.
There was a time my blood ran Vol orange,
But now I simply want to expunge,
Every trace of that cherished juice;
Because I got nothing more to lose.

[pause as violin continues]

Well, I’ve made up my mind, decided to throw my Vol faith away.
Decided to be a pessimistic no matter what you say.

I, for one, am excited by the job this staff has done. Given everything they have faced, we signed some excellent recruits. Admittedly, I am not a pro at critiquing film, but a lot of these guys appear to be great at their positions . Size, speed and attitude are all encouraging, not to mention the fact that we have some of the best position coaches in CF.
We are used to getting exactly what we see. One of the biggest pluses to the staff is that they should be able coach these young men up. That is something we haven't seen in years. If they fail to do that, then I will be disappointed. Actually, just can't wait until they take the field this fall.......GBO

what more can you ask? Worked his tail off trying to get the best possible guys. Didn't get everyone he wanted but got a lot of very talented players to build off of. especially on that D line.

We'll be aight

Frankly I'm amazed at the backlash. Butch Jones' first class was weaker than this and he didn't receive nearly as much blow back. I'm not sure why everyone is now suddenly expecting a top 10 class from a staff that has been on the job for 6 weeks.

Best to simply ignore it. It's coming from those who didn't get their splash hire. They won't say much about what Pruitt does right, but won't let anyone forget anything less. Par for the course around here.

I’m just ready for someone truly take ownership and pride in this program and push it back to at least being competitive.

He might be great. I hope he is.

But if you can’t see how the first two months have left the door open for questioning, then “you” have blinders on as well.

Alabama recruits the best kids. He basically just said he didn’t recruit any of those kids. Then he went back to coach them. Then he came here and landed a mostly underwhelming recruiting class saying he didn’t have enough time or kids to recruit.

I love how his accent and improper grammar is always quoted. 😆

I said his exact quote to my dad after NSD. Proper English is one of those skills that isn't a qualifier or disqualifier for head football coach.

I think everyone got their hopes up after all the 5* guys that were at one point or another thought to be strong leans. When we missed on all of them it was a bit of a letdown.

And what people need to remember is that before Pruitt became our coach, those 5 star guys weren't even considering us. We were completely off their radar. 6 weeks of Pruitt and his staff recruiting them got our hat on their tables! 6 weeks! Imagine what this staff will do over the next 52 weeks.

Look, I get that everyone wanted a better class. I wanted a better class. But all this finger pointing at CJP, claiming it's somehow due to his incompetence is nonsensical and not based in any kind of reality. If CJP winds up with a 20th ranked class next February then yes, people will have a reason to be skeptical. However the blame for this class rests squarely on "individuals" who are no longer here.
