FOR ALL OF YOU CJH HATERS…

If I am not mistaken we have been ranked in the AP top 25 every week since we entered it early in the 2022 season. Someone might prove me wrong, but I looked back and the best I can tell this is true. We are miles ahead of where we were a few years ago. Yes, there was some questionable play calling, but hopefully this was a learning experience for Heupel. You have to be careful what you wish for. For those who want CJH gone, who would you want to replace him. There is no sure thing when hiring a new coach. I know I don’t want us to enter the coaching carousel again anytime soon.

2 things: Heupel is a head coach, not just an OC. He’s going against Kirby moreso than Bobo.

Secondly, hard for me to say that Heupel made “way less mistakes” than Mike Bobo when Georgia had 502 yards and Bobo is only in charge of the offense. Hard to complain about the single game performance an OC who calls the plays to get 500 yards and 44 points on the road against a top 15 team.
But it's not hard to complain about the single game performance of the coach who called plays to get 496 yards and 41 points against Kirby Smart's defense and a top 6 team?

1. This is one of the worst coaching jobs. I think I see a pattern now, and I think Danny White knows it too.
2. We had them beaten 3 times, and we let them off the hook.
3. Max had to make that kick, he had to. and poor coaching decision made it 5x worse. You had 3 timeouts, call a freaking TO and calm that poor kid down.
4. Man, Joey is a baller.
You realize our kicker made that exact same kick in overtime

Look - I am not trying to be hard on that kid. He redeemed himself in OT which should be celebrated and I have full trust in Max for future games. The point was specifically referred to the game winning FG try. When game is on the line, as an SEC kicker, you just have to make it. Like I said, I blame more on the coaching staff not to call a timeout after that false start setback. At that junction of the game, the kick didn't become 5 yard harder, it became 5x more for a sophomore kicker.

Sucks losing, especially the way that we did, but its a heck of a lot better than getting steamrolled like we did under the previous coaches. Also nice to know that with JH at the helm we won't be losing to mid major schools anymore.
getting the playoffs is not the issue. It is to win the SEC and the National championship. We can't get this safe minded, non-championship coach to do anything but crack under the pressure.

And if we had called a time out and he missed it, everyone would be complaining that CJH iced our own kicker.

We had a very makeable kick to win the game, so it's hard for me to be too critical of the coaching.

Have only seen one Heupel hater. Questioning his decisions does not make one a hater. Anyone who loves Tennessee or even just smart football should question some of his decisions today.
It's always easy to question after the fact, but you're right, it doesn't make one a hater.

I would like to know what he was thinking during that 3 play sequence after the fumble recovery with less than 9 minutes, up 35-30.

He's still forgotten more than you or I know

If Gilbert hits the FG, no one is criticizing anything.

Heupel put his team in position to win. We didn’t make the plays. Period.
That’s not true. The outcome doesn’t change the facts.

And the second sentence is not accurate and incomplete.

It reads as if Heupel has zero responsibility for the loss.

Heup did his part in putting us in position to win, but the players made plays that put us in that position also. Some really great ones.

The players and Coaches also didn’t make plays or calls they should have.

My only real criticism was the decision not to run one more play to center the ball after the false start. But if he had and we got another penalty we would be mad about that too. Hindsight is always 20/20.
What really stings is that we know that we can compete with Georgia on equal terms now but we don’t get to test ourselves against them again for at least 12 months or longer depending on the new schedule. Unless we get them in the SEC Championship.
But I do feel confident now in a possible 10 or 11 win season. We should be favored against everyone except maybe Alabama.

I get people calling the coaching at the end conservative but I really don't think it was bad. There was very few situations (on both sides of the ball) where I felt like the play-calling or coaching was bad.

The only major exception on defense was the 2-point conversion. That was a great opportunity and we really blew that one. Not sure how that guy was wide open.

I really thought we should have kicked on third and five before we lined up and got the false start penalty. Rewatch that play, the false start was really close to the snap. Most coaches would have ran same plays in that situation trying to inch closer and run time off the clock. For all we know, Gilbert may prefer kicking from left hatch marks.

He'd literally just went through 3 GA timeouts. I guess Heupel should have just used all of his too. Gilbert has to make that kick. Heupel had this team in position to win the game with a simple football play and the team failed to execute a play that they'd get right 90 percent of the time.

Apparently people expect Heupel to be absolutely perfect at all times and to just blow everyone out so games don't come down to players having to execute. Unfortunately, life rarely works that way. Ohio State managed to lose a pair of games last year with their loaded 25 million dollar roster.
