FOR ALL OF YOU CJH HATERS…

CJH did show Nico to the door when the opportunity arose. Probably the best decision he has made this season. CJH did bring in Joey. Who on this board would have went after JA in April and believed he could deliver against SEC opponents? CJH gives us a better chance to win than most others. I’m sure Kirby and staff made some bad decisions, but the W erases those decisions for fans. We vividly remember every play that was unproductive for the Vols. I hate losing. I think we should win every game in every sport, but I’m also realistic. I’m sure that most of our father-in-laws would not have chosen us as the first choice for their daughter! We have sucked for a lot of this century. I can now approach Saturdays with hope we have a chance. I would rather lose to Georgia now than in December or January. We have class and our program is respected. CJH is not perfect and neither am I. Be thankful we have him as our coach. I’ll take 10 win regular seasons for now. It’s a heck of a lot better than where we were. The recruiting classes we are signing and portal players we bring are great choices. I remember a lot of QB names thrown around here back in April. How are they doing so far? GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!
Look most of us really like Heupel. But he isn’t infallible. He made mistakes and cost us the game against UGA. I am beyond thankful to have him as our coach. But sometimes he deserves criticism. This game is a perfect example of that.

Do you think yesterday's game would have looked better, worse or the same if Nico had stayed.

Most people posting right now are emotionally charged and/or well lubricated. Best bet is to pay them no mind.

There are some things to improve on sure, but the ppl talking about CJH just dont have "it", everything is horrible, etc etc are just expressing their pain the only way they know how. Im willing to bet most of them arent actually that dim.

We didnt have a qb 4 months ago and just took a top 5 (or better) team in the nation to overtime with starters missing all over the place.

Alot of football still to be played. Alot of room to grow for this team.

If Nico would have stayed he would have been pulled in the second half. Heck, he might not even started given the competition for QB1 in fall camp.

I feel the best thing CJH does is find role players that fill holes and deliver above expectations. JA only needed a chance to prove himself and he is now getting it. He would have sucked at UCLA had he remained there. The upside is he has a lot of room to improve as season progresses. We hung 41 points on a team that has held us to 13.5 ppg last four outings. Banks gave up 44 and he had four key players missing yesterday. We still went toe to toe for 60 minutes.

We should won and could have won. It just wasn’t meant to be. I get frustrated like everyone else. I predicted the first interception. Second one was on the WR slipping. Nothing QB can do when quick throwing to a spot and your guy is not there.

We will make CFP 50% of the time or better. Our program will have class without too many off field distractions. CJH will always be a boring interview and vanilla flavored on the sidelines. He is not a legend but will be able to give us hope for a win week in and week out. Can he win Championships, I dunno. Time will tell. Will we get disappointed and frustrated at times? Yes we will. I think being top 10 for a few years running is a lot better than where we were. Given the dumpster fire we had, it’s a blessing to be where are currently and a miracle to even be able to expect Championships. We

If Gilbert hits the FG, no one is criticizing anything.

Heupel put his team in position to win. We didn’t make the plays. Period.

Blame no one and support our entire team. I’m glad my joy isn’t reliant on the outcome of a football game. I enjoy watching and talking football, but it is not all that important in the grand scheme of life. It wasn’t meant for the Vols to win yesterday. I hope the loss motivates everyone in the program to work harder and play smarter. There were plenty of missed opportunities.

In high school, I dropped a pass that hit me in the hands. I was wide open with room to turn it up field for a first down to keep the drive alive. I was embarrassed by my ineptitude at the WR position. I committed myself to never drop a catchable ball again. And I worked to keep my eyes on the ball until it was caught and secured. I practiced catching tennis balls in the dark that I bounced off a wall. I strengthen my hands with fingertip push ups. Not only did I commit, I put forth the efforts required to get better. I grew in confidence and ability. I don’t remember any other drops the rest of my senior season. I even hauled in a lot of balls that I should not have caught. I had a good year after that dreadful drop in a preseason Jamboree. I wasn’t great, but I performed at a level my higher than anyone expected.

Gilbert will work his tail off in the days and weeks ahead to build his confidence and performance if he wants to get better. Or he will allow the miss to destroy his confidence and discipline and define his legacy as a Vol. I’m betting he strengthens his mind and grows from this game. I’m looking forward to him making game winning kicks in the future. The choice is his. He choked just like I did. My coach said this to me, after the game, “you want ever do that again will you!” I replied, “No sir, don’t give up on me.” He didn’t.

Best post of the night IMO! 100% agree. This team is good and growing up fast. We got a blue collar QB that had a great game against a great defense. He had 121.32 QB rating today against the UGA… and should have been better - one of those INTs could be attributed more to the WR slipping. Was really proud of our defense too. These guys are doing it without two of our best DTs and our two starting CBs out. This is a special team. And I agree. I think we slip into the playoffs and make some noice
AG is legit

Maybe not a perfect coach, but he won 10 games and made the playoffs with less than stellar QB play last year, so he is definitely upper-echelon.

There is no such thing as a perfect anything. My contention is that our staff coached the team well enough to be in an excellent position to win. Execution was lacking on the FG.

Both staffs called some good plays…and I guarantee that both staffs had calls they’d like to have back.

This is exactly what one should expect in any high-level sporting event between two evenly matched teams. It goes back-and-forth all game, and then one play decides it at the end.

If there's people hating on CJH for one game they are either around 4.5 years old or less, or they need to put the Jack down and head to bed. Ive been a Tennessee fan since I was a kid in the 80s.......we are playing fun and exciting football again and we'd be dumb to run CJH off. He's got us rolling and as much as I hate losing, this EARLY loss sometimes lights fire under teams (see last year's OSU) and our D gets back to full strength + all this game experience with our youngins............im actually thinking playoffs this year. We'll see how we focus next weekend. But if we go back-to-back playoffs and you're not impressed? Find a different hobby.
It’s not like in the 90s when we lost to Florida and we were basically playing for a good bowl game. Everything is still in front of us.

And Heupel made the kick harder than it had to be because he was scared.
CJH didn’t make the kick harder the false start pushed it back 5 yds. CJH was not going to take a chance on another pre snap 5 yd penalty or if we run a play a 10-15 yd penalty would have moved the ball out of range. In addition there could be issues with center QB exchange ending in disaster. It’s not being scared it’s knowing the context and all that that entails as possible outcomes. I personally would have tried to get some of the 5 yards back as I think every little bit helps, but I also understand why CJH made that call. It’s completely understandable.
We just went toe to toe with a top ten playoff team and the Vols if we can get some bodies back and remain healthy as the season moves along, we can also become a top 10 playoff team. I am disappointed in the loss but very very excited about the mentality of this team and their desire to continue to grow.
How good can this team become when healthy?
Go Big Orange!

He made the kick harder than it had to be by being too scared to center the ball. We already know he wanted the ball centered because that was his initial intention.

Hopefully Heupel apologized to his team for robbing them of a victory, because that’s exactly what he did last night with horrible decision making.

No hate, just critique from me.
I would like to see more play to win rather than play not to lose against the bigger and better teams.
This isn't the first game he's done that.

Imagine if this guy was our coach instead. I would honestly consider following another team:

1. This is one of the worst coaching jobs. I think I see a pattern now, and I think Danny White knows it too.
2. We had them beaten 3 times, and we let them off the hook.
3. Max had to make that kick, he had to. and poor coaching decision made it 5x worse. You had 3 timeouts, call a freaking TO and calm that poor kid down.
4. Man, Joey is a baller.
Take I-40 west. Vandy is having a pretty good season for a bandwagon season

You know nothing. Email Danny and I am sure he will tell you where to go. The thought process of a teen or a child.
