For a man that everyone claims loves his university...

They are always looking for new ushers. I have been doing it for 5 years. I would suggest asking an usher or gatekeeper at the next game to get you in touch with a supervisor. Or you can contact the athletic department and inquire.

How do you spot a mark?

I am a Neyland Stadium Usher. I am an Alum. I am not old. It is a privilege to get to watch the games. However, here are a few things you may not know:
1. We are NOT losing pay due to attendance
2. For those who do our job the right way, we have to be IN THE STADIUM 2 1/2 before the game until the game is over, standing the whole time
3. We have to deal with intoxicated people, people sitting in others' seats, and constantly having to ask many folks to not block other spectators' views
4. We have to often intervence in arguments, displays of bad sportsmanship, and those using foul language

This is, however, a very enjoyable job.

Just thought you should know the truth!

...worked years ago at baseball stadium, same problems you related, most folks I know who have done thiese kind of jobs do so because of love of the sport, team, or university, believe me it ain't the $.

That's their job...You don't pay for that section You don't get to sit in that section.

And that shows how out of touch the athletic department can be. I just don't see the hurt in letting folks move down when the seats are empty.

Well, it's all about comprehension and having a sense of humor. Everybody here loves the Vols and wants what's best for the university.
Please explain the humor in suggesting that Coach Phillip does not love UT, and then using CPF to blame anything that has, or will ever go bad at UT....I fail to see the humor. It simply seems to be the ongoing "he done Johnny wrong" agenda....Please explain...I'd like to be able to laugh also....please entertain me.:)

Well, I missed the part where it said Coach didn't love the school. Sometimes one must be able to laugh to keep from crying.. :cray:

Might be a way to get into the new Terrace section next year without forking out the $3G per year they are asking.

Fulmer and the University agreed to the contract. If you had a clause at work that guaranteed you money if you was fired....would you not take EVERY LAST DIME of it???

I would, and I think most everyone...if not everyone else would as well!

Man, some guy just pointed out that Spurrier walked away from a $15 million buyout from the Redskins and Spurrier didn't even have any ties to that organization. But Fulmer (who people claim is all for the university) will rob this school of $6 million...

Blame the D*CK that gave him the contract to sign.

And exactly how much of that comes directly out of your pocket? Jeez, you start this baseless thread and then keep it going with your whining. Get over it already.

What in the hell does Spurrier have to do with a damn thing. Since you brought it up, how much did SS steal before he left the NFL???? I guess you think he was worth every dime, since he did so well in the Washington.

If the university has the money to pay the buyout without impeding their ability to replace the HC, than not sure what the fuss is all about. Hamilton accomplished two things with Fulmer's contract:
1. Made Fulmer's contract competitive with other top programs which signaled UT's ability and willingness to play/pay with the other big boys
2. Give the appearance of stability for recruitment purposes and demonstrate commitment to the coach for future potential coaches and create reward Fulmer for a great first 10 years, a NC and all the other years of loyal service to the university that would smooth over an otherwise possible tough transition which we have found ourselves in.

Bottom line is I think the contract did more good than harm. Unfortunately Fulmer finally crashed and needed to be replaced and that is happening. Not sure what all the continuing fuss is about.

When you hear from some x players that Fulmer has forgot more than the average fan ever knew. Then my question is why can't he apply it.What does it take 3-7 or whatever 5 straight years to realize it is time.Devotion is one thing but stupidity is just that stupidity

Contract basics. If you are fired prior to the end of the contract you get compensation, maybe as much as the face value of the remaining contract term. If you quit, you don't get anything and, in fact, may be required to pay something to the contract holder.

Spurrier quit.
Fulmer was fired.

Easier to understand now?

Can UT sue fulmer for damages: maybe intentional infliction of emotional distress?
