I had a bunch of Aggie fans on my connecting flight to Houston. They're not real enamored with Coach Fran right now.

Can't imagine why. What exactly is the salary they are paying him to keep them in mediocrity, more or less than our same misfortune ?

that's what came to mind. Dennis F. is done.

living here in Houston and being surrounded by Aggie fans I can tell you that they really believed they would whip the Canes. Which made the beat down all the more painful for them. You're right, Coach Fran is history.

10. Does anyone know a good place for lunch in Tulsa?

Mahogany's is the most expensive/best steakhouse in the city, haven't tried it though. That's where the executives go for business lunches.

I'll try to be at hardwoods across from the stadium around 5 pm.

Miami VS. Fla. St. should be a good game.

Sure, if you like watching teams that are shadows of their former selves, with about a third of the former Division I talent they used to have.

You can watch Weatherford get sacked all day and watch Wright throw the ball in the dirt all you want. Me? I'm going to have some teeth pulled. Without anesthetic.

Dateline: The Orange Bowl.

1. I was lucky enough to score really good seats.
2. Football apparently makes for interesting seatmates. I looked two rows behind me and Donna Shalala and Jeb Bush were seated together.
3. Dennis Franchione needs to update his resume.
4. If Kyle Wright had a big time arm, Miami's speed at wide receiver could do some real damage.5. Having now seen Erin Andrews up close, she's attractive. However, in the pantheon of football babes, she still lags far behind Jayne Kennedy and Julie Moran.
6. The Orange Bowl now looks like a stadium in some economically destitute African nation. They won't have to spend much when they demolish it. I couple of shots with a sledgehammer will bring the place down.
7. The "Sunsations" are stunning as ever.
8. Talked to some Florida Atlantic folks today who are convinced that Arkansas State can hang with Tennessee for 3 quarters.
9. I never dreamed I'd see A&M be this consistently bad on defense. I can't wait to see what OU, Texas, and Nebraska do to them.
10. Does anyone know a good place for lunch in Tulsa?

Kyle looks like a totally different QB from last year. I think Miami is going to turn very soon. They lost a huge recruit in Will Hill, that Florida got yesterday. ESPN's #1 athlete prospect and #2 player ranking. But I think Shannon has them pointed in the right direction. I don't think he has the Assistant's to get them to where he wants to go, but we will see. I would love to see them knock of Florida next year.

Was it wierd to see the Miami uniforms with nameless on the back of the jerseys?

Miami will be back, but don't fool yourself. They are still a long way away from having anywhere near the talent they used to and there's a huge fall-off once you get past the true DI talent they start.

Going to take a little while.

I'm hoping that Shannon can keep them on the straight and narrow and clean up the image a bit. He's got that turn-it-around background that really could be inspirational to the kids he wants to recruit. He'll have to figure out how to let them cultivate a sort of responsible bad boy image. But if he can balance that then Miami could soon be a name again.

Agg fans do seem to not have a good hold on reality. I remember many predicting a big-12 title this year even after Cal destroyed them. Their defense is real slow. I can't imagine how OU and Texas didn't drop 50 on them last year. I remember the days when they were winning big-12 titles. There's no reason why they can't be a top-15 program.

We kept saying last year that the ACC was a whole different animal and this season just continues to prove that point. I think it's going to be a long while till UM is back to the place they used to be. I'm assuming :)ohmy:) that bowden is gone in two years and that FSU gets richt, the ACC continues to build upon their current success, and bam-the ACC begins to look like the new sec. UM and FSU have a tough road ahead of them.

TAMU is just a weird place. Lots of cool tradition, but with that tradition is a warped sense of reality.

i have some family that lives in Cypress, an aunt and uncle, both UT alum, and one of our cousins lives in Orange, and is an A&M alum.....and he cracks me up. we're not all that close, but every time i've been around him, he's always talking up A&M......has a whole room done up in maroon and white, pool table with maroon felt etc....real cocky. I'm sure he's pissed today.:p

Randy Shannon is the perfect man at the U. He'll do wonders down there. Be afraid LG.

take your cousin and multiply him by 100,000 and that's Housotn right now. Suddenly there are a whole lot more Houston Cougar fans around. By the way, the UH fans are all pointing to their game with Bama, they fully expect to win. For their game this weekend they're asking everyone to wear red and they're passing out t-shirts that say, "I See Red People".

that's terrible.

but i will say this, Houston is getting Bama at a good time on the schedule. they play GA and FSU before UH gets them, and it's in beteweend two SEC games, @ Ole MIss and.......us. so three weeks worth of BIG games for the tide, might get caught napping against the cougars getting ready for the 2nd half of the schedule?

It seemed to me that he has good zip on throws 5-10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage, but for whatever reason, can't throw a deep ball.

most of the UH fans here honestly believe that they have the talent to compete with Bama. Who knows They gave Oregon all they wanted, but I dont think they have the depth to handle an SEC team. they have improved leaps and bounds over the last few years.
