Football Program Under Investigation [merged]

The reports of Pruitt making enemies on the academic side, really makes me believe the rumors of Pruitt not being able to get along with Richt and some of the coaching staff when he was with Georgia.

The firing of Brumbaugh probably had a lot more to do with Pruitt being an incredibly difficult person to work for.

In other words, He’s a straight up prick.

Yep, Being a complete 4ss hurts your working relationships.

For starters Freeze ain’t gonna be the most expensive coach out there we could hire.

While Tennessee has never done this, I think we have to make some “top salary” offers to guys like Matt Campbell, Kyle Whittingham, and even Gus. All 3 would be better hires than Freeze. The only reason Freeze is in convo is he wouldn’t require the financial commitment as those other 3. It’s hard to say who else would be available but I’m saying we need to break the mold and actually spend big money to hire an established coach. Freeze doesn’t require big money and he’s not the best established coach out there with no background issues

The allure of Freeze is that he will be very cheap at his first big job after Ole Miss. Tennessee could prolly get Freeze for 3-3.5 million dollars. You mean to tell me that Freeze should be the #1 pick just because he’s gonna be good value for his salary?
I outlined what Freeze has accomplished in the SEC. Unlike others, I don't think about salary when looking at a coach. Seems some think if we pay a guy 6 million per year, he's going to be producing like Saban. Did we get our money's worth with Pruitt and Chaney? I'll take a guy who has won and is proven. If we could get Campbell, great. Gus? He had benefit of the bag man and cabin and still couldn't keep his job. Kyle Whittingham? Guy is in his 60s and is entrenched at Utah. He's not leaving for UT and a rebuild. Not realistic at all.

Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt: “I hadn’t seen no report” on a potential in-house investigation into the program for recruiting violations and inadmissiable benefits.
So does that mean he has seen the report? Being a double negative in all , I never have done been good at understanding ol cornbread

First, who knows if Basilio knows or if he’s speaking on pure rumor.

Second, what does a big boy move look like? To me, it’s Meyer, Stoops, or Petersen. It’s what Bama did with Saban, what UW did with Petersen, what OSU did with Meyer, and what UM did with Harbaugh (with the last one not working out as well as the others). If it is Freeze or Malzahn, that’s a very good move IMO but not necessarily a statement hire.

Third, if a move is made, we need our next coach already signed and ready. The meandering coaching searches of the past were painful and embarrassing and were failures.

Freeze was successful at Ole Miss because he had to cheat to get players.

What’s more concerning is that he got a head start on the division in back to back seasons by slaying Saban yet lost to the likes of Gus, Coach O/Miles, and Mullen.

Is the goal winning divisions or just beating a rival? If the goal is the latter, why not hire Gus who has more wins vs Saban? If Goal is former, why not hire Gus who has done it before?

Freeze would be a good hire for a cheap price. That’s the main allure for Freeze. Not a bad hire but should in no way be the #1 target in a search

BS...we cheat and lose by double digits. So what’s your point there Einstein?

It would be nice to have a coach that actually wants to be here. Haven't had one since Fulmer. Freeze has said this is his dream job. He's the most realistically attainable candidate for the job. I think we might have to pull the trigger given new investigations and the current season.

We can all have our debates on stuff but fact is Tennessee has never paid to get a winner

WRONG

Kiffin and crew were the highest paid coaching staff in America. Fulmer has opened up the checkbook since he has been here. We paid for Barnes. We have given baseball coach everything he has asked for. This argument is no longer accurate. We went cheap on Butch and Currie tried to do it again with Schiano. We had no options left when hiring Pruitt.. Dooley was situational, they panicked and there was nobody to pay.

if it’s bad enough he gets axed with cause and gets nothing
Which would be incredibly dirty since everyone in our athletic department knows we’re cheating. Fulmer knew Pruitt was willing to bend rules when he hired him or he wouldn’t have hired him.

Because a staff is the highest paid in the country, that doesn’t mean big money. Kiffin was no where near top in the country in head coaching pay

Mullen was obviously going to Tennessee or Florida based on Florida’s dealings with Chip Kelly. Stevie Wonder could see that. Where Tennessee messed up is not offering Mullen a crap ton of money to force him to make a decision right away while sticking it to a rival.

Mullen was hired before Currie got canned per your timeline. To act like Fulmer could have gotten Mullen here when Fulmer was an advisor to the admin and not the AD is hilarious. Currie and Haslams wanted Fulmer no where near the AD. Glad they wound up getting tossed to the side and more boosters got involved.

Also the best hire available that Phil COULD have made was Kiffin but that was unrealistic because Phil and boosters were in no way support of it.

I didn't nail it down to just Mullen as an option.

THINGS I know are true: 1. Pruitt is not a head coach. 2. Fulmer has a big ego. 3. The team is making the same mistakes today as in game 1. 4. Freeze is good at cheating - at least for a while. 5. It looks as if we will never get back to the level of Bama and Fla. 6. We cheat and still manage to stink up the field. 7. I am almost ready to give up - its no fun being a Vol fan anymore. 8. If Auburn can afford to fire a coach that wins 66% of his games at 24 Million bucks, we cant afford not to fire a stupid clown that is under 50% in his third year. 9. There must be a rule that the Vols are not allowed to score after the half. 10. There must also be rule that we are not allowed to adjust after 2 quarters. We never do.

This was actually pretty good. Read all 10 points. Worth the read if any skipped over. Sad but true and made me laugh out loud 😂. #s 9 & 10 classic!

Kiffin was no where near top paid coach in the country. Don’t even think he was top 25

Wonder how many LOI will be voided.
Recruiting doesn't matter until we get a head coach and staff that can develop players once they get them on campus. We've seen 3 years of inept development. Got us 3 wins this year. It's time to get a legit coach.
