I'm trying to decide on parking pass location for football. My options, based on my ranking will be utvc, lot 40, or locust st garage. I would like to hear opinions on ease of access to and from i40. Also how difficult of a walk is it, one of my kids legs start hurting if he has to walk too far? I think lot 40, and utvc have shuttle service if so how long of a wait is there after the game to catch a shuttle? I know sometimes the wait to get to the colosseum takes forever. Finally how is the tailgating at each of these, friendly people, etc?

Locust St garage? Most of the downtown garages are free...has that changed? I'd take the vet school. You can walk or ride.

I normally get free parking or pay for decent spot. I have been donating year in and year out on and off which is why my rank sucks 8,988. I am getting parking this year and requested worlds fair, fort kid, 11 th street garage, lot 14, and AG. If I can't get any of those than I am getting a refund or selling. If your rank is more than 10,000 I would suggest parking at civic collesium, or free parking at 500 state street or market square garage.

I just park at Calhoun's so I don't have to bring food and I can look at all the boats for the 900 mile walk.

What time do you normally show up for a big game at Calhouns?

Its not necessary but I show up at 7-7:30 for maximum shenanagins. But I see people pulling in at 830-9. I haven't looked around after that time so I'm not sure how late it lasts. Some people bring their stuff and place it in a spot in the morning and then go pick up the family.

You'll see me there for the Florida game.

Has anyone tailgated at 906 Poplar street near World's Fair park? Always wanted to tailgate there just found out not too long ago just $30. Close to stadium and in thick of things.

I parked in lot 40 this year, and actually liked it. Getting to parking I get off 40 on to Sutherland and come into the lot off concord so I miss traffic and leaving I take the side streets and get back on at Papermill. Of course I am coming from Murfreesboro so take that for what you will. As for the walk it's not bad at all going to the game. It does take some time leaving the game, but you could always try the shuttle. I haven't personally I enjoy walking and people watching

Parking meters are not checked downtown on weekends. Park on State St and walk to and from the stadium. Easier to get in and out of traffic from there as well.

I parked in lot 40 last year, and I absolutely loved it. It's a little bit of a walk to the stadium, but the ease of getting in and out is well worth the walk. Oh and as far as accessibility to I-40, it's a breeze. I live in Gallatin, so I come in from 40 west, get off at Alcoa Hwy, then almost immediately get off the Kingston Pike exit. If you turn left at the bottom of that ramp and go back under Alcoa Hwy, lot 40 is directly to your left. I've parked in a million different places up there, and lot 40 is by far the easiest I've seen for getting back on the interstate.

Locust is $20 without a permit.

I've parked there for a few years and it works great for us. It's a good option if you're going east or north after the game. Just make sure you exit onto Walnut and not Locust.

UTVC is a terrible option. We had parked at the Ag campus for years and loved it there because, like Sqoushua17 above, we drive back to Middle TN after the games, and it is so much faster to walk out of the traffic and hop on Alcoa Highway. Last year we were bumped to UTVC. Not only was the longer walk tough after a full day of tailgating and the game, the stretch from the AG campus to UTVC is extremely dark and dangerous. You have to cross the Alcoa Highway entry ramp in the dark, with the traffic light turned off. Cars are flying on to that entry ramp and they cannot see the pedestrians. We contacted the athletic department multiple times asking for a police presence to stop traffic for pedestrians, and it never happened. I am afraid that someone will be killed at that spot if the AD doesn't change something. There is a shuttle, but by the time you wait in line and sit in traffic on the bus, the purpose of parking in that area of campus is defeated. If you aren't facing a long drive home the shuttle might work for you. If you aren't going to fool with the shuttle, park elsewhere.

On my parking pass application it's showing locust at garage and requiring a pass next year

That may be true, I didn't really examine my application. In the past they've had normal just show up and pay parking since there's been more parking spots in the garage than season passes sold for it.
