Heck, everything I have said has not gone well. I say Phil Fulmer has one big games and I have tomatoes thrown at me.

no no.. stick around man. i'm just tired of the at least we are winning idea. I understand it could be worse as you put it, but don't you think it could be better as well? Like occasionally winning SEC titles and going to BCS games and possibly going to the NC game?

Did not say i was happy with not winning SECC but I mean they act as if Fulmer is horrible. 128-37 (.776)
is his record i mean fire him.

I'd rather watch the team that has a chance in every game as opposed to our effortless football team who could care less about showing up for games.

On one side an energetic and exciting bunch of new players with an enthusiastic new coach and new blood pumping all through the program, or an old, tired, nonchalant football team? Easy decision for me.
that may be the most ridiculous thing i've ever read on this board. they weren't the best obviously, but effortless? don't care? completely disagree with that statement.

Even if the football program had been ultra successful over the past two seasons, it still probably wouldn't be more impressive than what Pearl has pulled off here in the last two years.
i think that's what matters here....the bball team was so down for so long, this will always be the biggest surprise is if BP can keep us at this kind of level of success consistently during his tenure. though things haven't been exactly great football wise, no one would be really all that surprised, outside a porton of the fanbase anyway, if we came out next year and won the conf. We've been good at football for a long time, have multipe championships and have won a NC in the past decade. the resume itself lends itself to it not being a shocker if all the sudden we come out and win it next year, or any year for that matter. so i agree with you Tid.

Fulmer's record at the NC game was at 11 losses...so that means since 99 he has lost 26 games since....NOT ACCEPTABLE

Well, you could've said so to begin with. :)

Alright, before you get defensive, this is not an attack on you, nor is it an attack on coach Fulmer. We're talking about numbers, right? Raw data.

Take that 128-37 record. Now count the wins (home and away) against teams that were ranked in the top 25 when we played them. Break that down to "home" and "away".

If we want to be a perrenial contender for something other than the Citrus (or Outback) Bowl, those are the numbers we need to be concerned with.

Go Vols.

Dont take that as attack. Never have taken anything as an attack. But to say the football team gives no effort is obsured. The reason everyone is so high on basketball right now is because it has been awhile since we have competed for titles. We have become tired of above average football seasons. The problem is I look as if I am happy with just winning, this is not true. I want to compete for a title every year, but I know that is not going to happen all the time. People need to realize their expectations for teams are sometimes a little crazy. Was I disappointed we did not win the East, yes, but I was surprised some games and disappointed some as well. That is football.

Its a bit apples and oranges but which one are you more impressed with as of 2007? Could it be our B ball program will find more success and quicker than our football program? The current trend points that way.

Trick question?

I love Tennessee football and basketball like most of us here, but as of 1/17/07, hangover of the Outback Bowl disgust still lingering, the answer is a black and white as can get - basketball.

Basketball = overachieving

Football = underachieving

Just imagine what our football program could do if the coaching staff utilitzed its talent and provided motivation in the manner Bruce Pearl does (and I like Fulmer so don't start... just being objective).
