I know you live to trash our players but please explain how Nico was a "bottom half" guy. He finished 8th in passing yards(5 of the 7 ahead of him are not returning), 7th in completion % among starters(4 of the 6 not returning), 8th in yards/attempt(5 of 7 not returning), 7th in passing TDs(4 of 6 not returning), 4th fewest Ints among starters(Cook not returning, Arnold transferred to Auburn and had more attempts than the three with fewer Ints), tied with Carson Beck for 7th in QBR(only Sellers and Lagway returning). Also, Nico finished ahead of Pavia in wins, passing yards, completion %, yds per attempt, and QBR.
Finally, someone with sense

Surely you don’t think the week 1 poll is more important than the final poll?
He isn't cherry picking stats anymore than you are.
Jeremy Pruitt’s last team had the longest winning streak in the country early in his third season, would you argue that was a championship caliber team?
It should have been. 7 starters from that offense have had significant playing time in the NFL
WR - Jauan Jennings, Josh Palmer, Marquez Calliway
OL - Trey Smith, Wanya Morris, Darnell Wright
RB - Ty Chandler
QB play is still JG and Milton levels.
Cam didn’t have a team of NFL players. He elevated a bunch of nobodies
Vacillate much? Nico & Milton did more with less than JG had to work with.
Maybe we wait until Nico's 4th year until we compare him to Cam's 4th year. Not winning the Heisman is a tough standard.
Also JG never went a whole month without scoring in the first half.
Nico has had 5 games with 3 or more TD's in just two seasons and 3 4TD games. JG only had 2 3TD games in 5 seasons and never had a 4 TD game.
My cherry picked stats don't mean anymore than yours do.

It's reasonable for anyone to have been somewhat disappointed with Nico's season. You're all over the place with "major disappointment BS", though. There's reasons to be concerned about Nico and there's reasons to be encouraged.

Until/Unless NIL becomes directly controlled by the universities, it's just an unquantifiable soap box to cry on.

Why can’t folks accept that Nico’s production numbers are close to middle of the pack in the SEC starting QB ratings last season? We’re all hoping for big improvements, but the numbers are the numbers.
Hard truth

Bottom half qb? Ur crazy sir. He had a heck of a year for a freshman season. Way better than Peytons
He did not. If you compare raw numbers, then you could come to this erroneous conclusion, but that would be about as bad as concluding that Squirrel White must have been a better receiver than Alvin Harper because Squirrel had more yards in 3 years than Harper had in 4. Plus, Nico was a redshirt freshman who enrolled early and would have been considered a sophomore in Peyton’s day, while Peyton was a true freshman who didn’t enroll early and was not prepared all offseason as the starter. The better comparison would be how did each look in their second year on campus? Peyton was a top 10 QB in all of college football, while Nico was not even an undisputed top 10 QB in the conference.

I want to reiterate that anyone favorably comparing Nico to Peyton f’n Manning is either lying through their teeth or has no idea what they are talking about.

Saying that Nico and Milton had “less to work with” than JG is such a load of BS. They didn’t have to work with Butch Jones and Jeremy Pruitt. I’d say that counts for quite a lot. If you honestly believe that we had championship talent in JG’s time, Idk what to tell you. You can say “we had a bunch of day 3 draft picks,” but that would ignore the fact that championship teams have more talent than that. We should have been much better than we were, but we had an horrible coach.

And saying that postseason rankings matter more for strength of schedule than preseason rankings isn’t “cherry picking” anything.

The stats in totality are not at all impressive. I guess you can say “SEC games” is cherry picking but I’d say those are probably the best indicators of how he actually played, no?

'Eye test', the 'It-factor', or whatever you want to call it, I saw enough to feel comfortable with the bold.

I saw similar with Dobbs and B. Maurer while they were underclassmen. Dobbs, I was right about. B. Maurer couldn't stay healthy and keep it together enough between the ears. Nico has looked better as an underclassmen against the SEC than either of them did.

Dobbs looked better his second year on campus than Nico did in his second year on campus. Dobbs actually went and won us some games. We won 10 games in spite of Nico. Nico throws it harder and farther but that’s about the only thing I’d give him over Dobbs at the same juncture. That and having a better head coach
