Who cares about a meaningless bowl game with two average teams after just losing the SECCG yet again - bring on basketball.

And no it's not a tournament just a game in Nashville and they should be a decent team but not a team we shouldn't beat by 10+.

Im ready for the XU game.
The only other basketball game I've been to was the Tournament game last year in which we were about 15 rows up. That was great

im looking forward to football also but this bball team can go far( if they make their freethrows and play better d) i hope they are not like the football team and seem to only show up when they are playing the underdog. maybe they can talk mayo and some other bruisers into knocking some people around on the court

and explain to me how the bball team is not average (and I'm being nice) at this point in the season.

PJ, I think you make a good point, and based on what we've seen thus far, the bball team is okay.

The difference between the two teams is that the football team has one game left, and we pretty much can guess how far they'll climb based on how they play in that game. The bball team has a ton of potential and 75% of the season in front of them.

WKU has a kid named Courtney Lee who can flat play ball. he will be one of the best swingmen we see all season.

I completely agree but this bball team is as frustrating to watch as the fball team. It's sad to say but they remind me of JG's teams some nights.

I remember him from last year. Solid player. If memory serves me he's not a "wow" player but more of a solid, fundamentally sound, good shooter.

they got out hustled in chattanooga but they beat a really good west virginia team. texas outplayed them because we are gonna live and die by the three. i would say a little better than average. i still do not see anyone to beat us in the sec. sec seems a little down this year. georgia looks decent

The way I'm looking at it right now (glass half full) is that Texas and WVU are better than their preseason rankings and that UT is about halfway to where they will be at the end of the season. IOW, they've got a long way to go.

I've had those flashbacks too, and they're not too pretty. Some dark days of being a Vol fan, even though they won a lot of games. I think this team is slightly less talented but will be more disciplined than JG's teams. That was pure pickup ball. This at least has some philosophy behind it.

Just afraid all the hype has went to their heads. Hope CBP can get in straightened out by SEC time.

Its all about football for me. As far as I'm concerned basketball season doesn't start till after the bowl games.

Congratulations - I could care less about another meaningless dissapointing non-BCS bowl for about 1,000 straight season. Will I watch it and root them on like always? Yes. But I find it hard to be satisfied with a mediocre bowl win, when we still have such a long basketball season ahead of us and we have a promising team.

Maybe try watching basketball a bit more - it makes the CFB off-season a lot shorter.

Did I say they weren't average? No - I didn't.

At this point the basketball team has played better than the football team at most points in their season (exception with UGA and Arkansas games) - but that's not saying a whole lot since we had so many huge lapses during the season.. and the basketball season has played way below expectations..

The bowl game has little to no effect other than on Fulmer's W/L record. No one will care or remember that we beat or lost to Wisconsin next year. Atleast if we were in a meaningful bowl game we could have something to hang our hats on. I

t's really disgusting to see some of the lack of support for the basketball team though - I don't really understand how you can love the University of Tennessee but only football. But I guess that's Tennessee for you.

What has the bball team won in the past few years to put them above the fball team's performance? You say mediocre non-BCS and I say 1-win and done SEC tourneys.

Most people here support the bball team. Are they free from being criticized for their performance this season? Amazing the 180 in people's comments with bball v fball when their results are eerily similar.

I've been watching UT bball for years and cheered for them in the very bad times. Thanks for implying otherwise though
