assuming that we don't have game by game captains who would be the 4 captains?

QB: Erik Ainge
TE: Chris Brown
LB: Ryan Karl
DB: John Hefney

Ainge, Young, Karl, Mitchell, Hefney

Brown shoplifted and Mapu hasn't been on campus enough

The coaches were talking as if he could have been a captain once he hit the campus last year. Isn't XMan only a JR next year?

Do we always have 5 or have we had 4 before? I think Ainge, Mitchell, Karl, and Hef are locks with the last one, if we have 5, going to Young or Mapu.

Are they going to have game captains again next season?

I hope not. The Vols need leadership and they need it before the season, during the season and before the bowl game. Phil needs to name captains and be done with it. I wasn't real fond of the "Game Captains" idea.

Would it be possible for them to make Inky a captain even though he will not technically be on the team?

It's not 100% that he won't be on the team. I haven't heard anything concrete in awhile, and while I doubt he will be playing next season, there is a decent chance he will still be part of the team.

Cool. Yeah, I figured they would make him a part of the team somehow. That would be awesome if he was named captain.

So there's still a chance Inky could return to the team maybe a year or two down the road?

The last I had heard was that if the surgery went "very well", that there was a chance he could play football again. It was too far out to determine if that meant here at UT or in some other capacity but I haven't heard about the surgery. I think it's one of those situations where we won't know how well it went until rehab is underway and working toward completion.
