don't mine trolls that's part of the fun, but I do mind trolls that claim to be diehard fans and are just on the board to stir up crap.

Negative Nancy's are just sad....actually pathetic complainers...nothing better to do than to look or walk through life from the worst aspects. They don't get it.

We have identified the problems

Speed
Previous coaching regime
Discipline
Youth
Experience

These are not excuses they are facts.

Most fans are not willing to wait it out and expect instant results...it is gong to take time...it is easy to see...but the more anyone expects instant results the more painful
It becomes....board posts about firing staff and coachs at this point is just dumb.

Our players love CBJ and staff. The recruits do too. They are not going anywhere...Texas is getting ready to be the Tennessee of old....

Our fan base needs maturity and patience...the effort I am seeing is many times better than they have displayed since 2004...first yrs under kiffin and Dooley are exceptions...difference in a jones led team will be the effort shown next year...Kiffin left and Dooley flat out quit after first season.

Lack of Standards, attitude, leadership and effort equals losing..

We have the coach that has identified the problems and is fixing them. The players are buying into it and believing.

The Oregon game was a learning experience for everyone, players, coaches, fans and even recruits...they maybe the true number one but we will not know until the end of the season how good they are. We learned from this game because this is CBJs vision of the Vols in the years to come. Or close to it...main factor is speed.

When I saw a 310+ offensive lineman (bedard daffney) outrun a DB in the SEC...I learned very quickly speed kills. What also amazes me is that we won the NC with a DT QB and have not recruited one since...

Fans throwing a lot of criticism at the coaches is laughable. Do fans think these Coaches are looking at fundamental mistakes on the field and ignoring them. No. There are a lot of mistakes and they are addressing them one by one.

These players have had little coaching the last 3 years. At times I felt like Dooley was drawing plays in the dirt...he would look like a deer in the headlights and simply said he was "Overcome by Events."

the problem is that most fans are having withdrawals and flashbacks. See I just did it. I never want the program in this state of confusion again...we all learn from our mistakes and they are painful. Everybody is gun shy right now and rightfully so.

Bottom line as fans we need to let the past go and move forward...the players of team 117 have done so. In 3 - 4 years we will look at this team as ground zero and say they weren't great but they played with heart and soul...they were the kick start

When we do so, we will heal...I am a diehard fan and always have been and always will be...this losing shall pass.

Dude, according to you, Dooley should still be coaching...

Get rid of Dooley before 4 years, knowing how close this program was to ground zero when he arrived will clearly demonstrate this University has some serious issues.....and unrealistic expectations.....

What kills me is all the head hunters on this site seem to have overlooked the buyout which was public knowledge from day one.....This was going to happen with any coach we hired at UT....People seem to forget that MH did raise money for this University. More so than any other AD previous....As a result, New facilities and upgrades built and accomplished.....Time will tell.....Martin will be a good hire and Dooley will too but fans want instant gratification and that is a tough bill to fill......

Well I made a mistake didn't I...did not see true Dooley until the KY and MO games. I try to find the positive of everything...How was Jr High today...Let me add, you are a non Vol fan in sheep's clothing...I support the AD and their decisions.

Dooley came in and did the Administrative job. Prevent NCAA Sanctions and getting the facility finished. I also did not want to waste 5.2 Million dollars on a buyout.

Who was coming to UT, other than Dooley to clean up the mess left by Kiffin?

Where do you stand on CBJ?

CBJ was my top choice of realistic candidates, he will get the job done here.

I am not negative, a troll, or anything of that sort. I am a long time Vol fan. More often than not, I have been attacked for being too hopeful and reserving judgment too long.

But you cannot exclude the possibility that the current staff is part of the problem. We all hope they're not. ALL true Vol fans want to believe they're not. However some of us are wanting to see real improvement. We aren't interested in blind faith... or faith built on what he may have done somewhere else, may be doing in recruiting, or even may be doing with the team. We want to see some tangible, measurable results that demonstrate that when everything is said and done he will produce a better product than the last guys.

What tangible results are you talking about? Whether you like it or not recruiting is as tangible as it gets. As for wins we were decided underdogs on the road against Oregon and Fl. Did you really believe before the season that these were wins?? If you are as smart as you think you are let the season play out. Jones has done more to improve Tennessee football than Dooley and Kiffin combined.

Not sure the results you are looking for will happen this year or even next. This program and these young men have been through so much over the last few years. Talent is great but developed talent is the key to success. No matter how much or little talent the last 2 coaches brought to Knoxville, it was very obvious they were did not motivate or improve these young men on the football field.

You can see some signs of improvement. Opponents aside, the team has played a more disciplined and confident brand of football. I have been part of many reclamation projects and bottom line is this program was about as low as it could ever get before Butch Jones walked onto campus. Time and patience.

I'm not trying to get in an argument here, but I'm curious as to what exactly has Jones done (on the field) that Dooley and Kiffin didn't do? Much less combined.

Off the field (unifying fan base...before the 1st loss, bringing back alumni, recruiting) he's excelled at. But we looked like the Keystone Cops out there on Sat.

Off the field, Dooley started the VFL program and this place lapped it up...ala Brick By Brick.

I hope like hell Butch turns this thing around because it's a mess. It's true, the team needs an upgrade in talent. But if this coach is the best staff in America they'll figure what to do to keep team #117 competitive before team #117 is synonimous with the worst team (record wise) in UT history.

:good!::hi:

Don't you know you can't question anything and that you must exhibit blind faith or the Fan card police will come for you?

If you can't tell the difference between the effort in the second half of this years game vs last years, I don't know what to tell you. Yes, we made plenty of mistakes, but the effort and fight was there. We were much more talented last year and we flat out quit last year in the third quarter. We didn't do that this year. That tells me what I need to know, that CBJ is a leader of men.

I agree the team didn't quit, but they simply couldn't capitalize on UF's numerous mistakes. In fact, they did worse than conceivably possible in those situations.

Thats true, we threw away some tremendous opportunities for sure. I think the first step is the effort. We've got that. Next has to be execution, and I think S Alabama is exactly what the Dr ordered after these two games against solid opponents. For me the blueprint is Ole Miss last year. Started off looking bad, finished up strong. Got to 7-6 after the bowl and a top 10 recruiting class. That should be our expectation this year IMO.

Same crap was said about Kiffen, and dooley. Sunshine pumpers need to give people a little slack for being a little skeptical. Butch Jones may be the coach that brings us back but frankly nobody knows. Skepticism foes not equal Negavol.

Dude calls you out with your own words and you feel the need to resort to insults. lmfao. "Well I made a mistake" would have sufficed. It's okay to be wrong sometimes, but to get offended when it's pointed out to you is beyond silly. I genuinely hope you were trying to be sarcastic, but based on the entirety of your post, it doesn't come across that way.

well i still think Dooley was cut off the knees,by Hart and the fan base, now we will see what happens to CBJ

people to need to ease up on him,it will hurt recruiting, people seem to think that recruits don't look at these forums, but they do

it is going to take some time and remember,he has a learning curve in the SEC too

Weser, this has been going on between us for the last week. Honestly, I don't like the punk....think he is a spoiled rotten child...there is a history there in the post so check it out....

doesn't change the fact I made a mistake about Dooley and doesn't change that I hate that we paid Dooley 5.2 million to get rid of him. Can't stand that Hamilton should have known better....Dooley could not coach he lost the team nobody wanted to blame bray for laying down or Rogers but knew we had serious issues when Wilcox, sirmon and bagget left.

Oregonvol is a crap one of those fans that stirs up crap without facts...check his posts...

It is easy for everyone to look at this in hind site. With me it was always about the money...we had just made the last payment to Fulmer. Then we incurred another debt to Dooley. Some think money grows on trees and some think that we can just buy our way out of problems as long as they are spending others money....

Anyway it's all off point of the original post. We learn from our mistakes and that's the point that I wan making, time and patience and don't let the negative posters on this board or the trolls incite anymore chaos.

I support CBJ and staff along with the AD, I don't care for anyone that does not support the players, the coach, the AD or the fans that do.

I don't have a problem with your hesitant support and you don't have to get on the bandwagon. It is those fans that are posting fire threads and incompetent threads 4 games into a season most realistic fans feel that we will be luck to go 6-6 this season. It is all opinion....you are fine.
