I’d like to see Shrout win the CU job just to see what he can do with some seasoning under his belt. His arm talent is special. He was just very raw when UT signed him.
Amazing how quickly Heup changed our fortunes. Just rember where we were one year ago. Heup is two years ahead of schedule imo.
What an amazingly dumb take. If any kid transfers out, and they aren't competing against UT directly or indirectly (like all of these kids), why not wish them success? You sound like a guy who had every ex-girlfriend immediately do better than youCall me bitter and cynical, but other than for them to be free from injury, I don't wish anybody even the slightest bit of success at another program after they leave UT. They can all pound sand.![]()
And yet, he played for us, as a true freshman (with no Spring ball, due to Covid), vs. SEC opposition, and passed for 578 yds, 48 for 68, throwing for 4 tds vs 2 ints. Freshmen can grow, learn and get quicker with their reads and decision-making. Seems he did not fit Heupel's system. I don't believe his story is quite finished yet.Head case he is not..
It was obvious to anyone that actually watched and not rely on his recruiting ranking, what his problem was.
Extremely slow in pass progession and an average arm.
You could tell when he was at the Elite 11 camp he had a LOT to work on. He was basically a chuck it or nothing type in his HS offense. Wish him good luck.3rd on depth chart:
3. Kaidon Salter (6-1, 190, r-Fr., Tennessee/Cedar Hill, Texas)
2021 stats: 1 for 2, 39 yards, 1 TD; 5 carries, 53 yards, 10.6 average
Salter is the most electric of the four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster. His dual-threat skill set has been described to Willis, but there are still elements of his game that he needs to work on. The Tennessee transfer showed flashes of what he can bring to the offense during the open scrimmage with his ability to elude tacklers and quickly get out of the pocket. However, there were instances in which the game was still too fast for him and he wasn’t able to make the right decision. That means he will spend the season developing for the future.
“He’s progressed. He’s progressed a lot in that amount of time,” Austin said. “He still needs to get his decision making up to a level that is commensurate with the level that he’s playing at, and that can help our offense get the ball in the end zone with the least amount of mistakes. He’s getting there. Like all young quarterbacks, it’s a work in progress. It was with JB as well when we first got here. He’s doing well.”
Liberty 2022 football position preview: Quarterback
Sadly and inexcusably, Maurer's name is misspelled as "Mauer" on the Lumberjacks' official roster.
Really, you said that? Yes Peterman had a good couple years at Pitt. However he had one of the worst showings of any Qb to wear the Orange in his time here.Peterman was not even close as woeful in college as Guarantano. Peterman was at least good at Pitt.
