Florida's Memo To Kiffin

LG:

"Unfortunately, sometimes you have to do some things that may not be what everybody likes, but it gets you out there," Kiffin said. "It gets Tennessee in Sports Illustrated and on SportsCenter. That may sound weird to you guys, but understand that's what kids nowadays look at. Ninth-graders, 10th-graders, they need to see Tennessee over and over and over again because that's how they start to say, 'OK, I'm 3,000 miles away, (but) I better go check that place out because something special's going on there.'"

Direct quote from Kiffin...and more evidence which proves Kiffin, at least to some extent, planned this out.

Finally we have a coach that is getting in other opponents heads rather than being psyched out. I dont know how the outcome will turn out, but if FL is counting on this one game, they may turn out to be flat come gameday. Personally, I would think that a T in their locker room would be considered sacrilege. As good as Tebow was last year, he didnt do near as much damage to UT as Brandon James did. In fact Tebow barely rendered 100 yards of offense. UT gift wrapped a few TD's as I recall. FL will still be a team to be reckoned with, however, Harvin was their anchor on the WR corps. Look for the Gators to misjudge some opponents this season. A lot of their great starters are injured for the spring. This could affect them come September. Harvin was only 75% throughout his career and still managed to do some damage, but these guys arent Percy Harvin. I see Eric Berry having two INTs against Tebow this season.:peace2::popcorn:

but in the end he visited UF and saw the town

He must of had some serious orange and blue goggles on, because if I had to choose a school city in FL, I'd take Talahassee any day. I have a few friends in Gainesville, and even they would agree that it is a dump. It's dirty, and there's a ton of crime and drugs. Nothing against UF, but Gainesville sucks.

As I've been saying, complacency is Florida's biggest enemy this year. Its all about being on edge every weekend, even when heavily favored.

IMO, except for Florida, the SEC is a bit down this year. Florida's two biggest games appear on paper to be at LSU and hosting FSU. Georgia, UT, South Carolina, these are teams that are either rebuilding or reorganizing and Florida, on paper, is just head and shoulders above everyone else in the conference.

It would be very easy for the Gators to start taking teams for granted. But its still the SEC, these teams are all good, and so Florida has to guard against ... complacency.

I dont think that UF is the team that needs to be out for any vengeance. That is utter stupidity. If anyone has a need to win this game it is UT. Being blown out twice in 2 years warrants the VOLS. UF has 2 NC's in 3 years. Who cares what coaches have said. It is not the first time a coach has dogged another, and it will not be the last. This game could prove costly to the Gators NC hopes if they are putting their eggs all into one basket. VOLS=GIANT KILLERS:rock:

And as I promised earlier, I have to point out the flaw in your logic. Kiffin is saying that now, because its an out that takes the heat off of him for making the foolish comments to begin with.

I've watched that video a few times. He wasn't making a fake claim. He believed it, was wrong, and is now taking the bait to get out of it with the nonsense that he planned to falsely accuse Meyer of cheating.

Its weak.

Question. What is the talk at Florida about UM. I was listening to ESPN local radio show in Chattanooga yesterday. He was saying the talk is if Florida wins the NC again this year....and if Weiss has another bad year at ND that UM would go to ND for an unprecidented amount of money. What is you take?
My take is that if the Ohio State job opened up tomorrow, CUM might be gone. He's an Ohio guy with his first coaching gig at ND. We all know that Tressel is going to stay there. CUM talks about ND all the time. Call me crazy, but the Notre Dame job will go to CUM or Skip Holtz at East Carolina. Holtz had a chance at the Georgia Tech job and the Syracuse job within the last couple of years. However, when the ND AD announced Weiss would return for this year (09) he took 5 days to do so. During that time there was no contact with CUM, only with Skip Holtz. Holtz and Meyer are very good friends. I believe deep down Holtz believes that CUM's heart will remain at UF if given the decision. His family loves it there and I honestly believe that UF will match the $ for the ND job. He will ultimately stay, thus leaving Skip Holtz to take the ND job. This is just my opinion knowing a person or 2 on the inside.

Being a Florida fan...I can see why that is you take. Being a huge UT fan....obviously my take is different. No one for sure knows what the logic was except Kiffin. But, one thing is sure....it did get the Vols some bigtime air time. Depending on who was watching it whether it was bad or good. But in this business....any airtime can be good. And in the end we hauled in some bigtime names....Bryce Brown, took a couple from Florida and a big 5 star from LSU. No matter what....this staff is causing alot of excitement among recruits, existing players and the fanbase.

I am well aware of that. For UF this year anything short of a national championship would be a let down. But on this board, in this place, the only game I care about in that regard is the UT game. And you are right, I am confident. Not going to sugar coat it. And if UT should pull the upset, I will be here, taking my lumps.

:hmm: LG, do you spend as much time on other school's message boards as you do ours?...just wondering...could it be that you are just a little bit Vol at heart?

Whatever the case, most all your posts I've read over the years have been classy considering coming from a Gator fan.
...sure do hope that you are here in Sept. though having to take a LOT of those lumps you mention.

Thanks for your take. I heard on the local ESPN Chattanooga radio yesterday that the word is if UM goes it could be double Sabans salary...that is what the guy said anyway.

I'm not real worried about it.

That is what it would take. They better make it double UF's first matching offer, or they will be left out, IMO.

Weak, yet it is still being talked about. Gators are making t-shirts in April and flooding UT websites to be the jackasses they are simply because a nobody coach for a nobody school made a comment.

The nobody coach I agree with. However, the nobody school is wrong. I thought TN had a long-standing tradition?

Oh Lord, I wouldn't give $1.00 for that supid shirt. Gator fans are getting really annoying now. And they call us hicks.

IFFFFFFFFFFFFFF we win I will laugh my freakin butt off.

What websites are they flooding? Surly you are not referring to LG and Victory. Two people do not make a flood and they have been here longer that CLK and his comments.

Venture over to KNS website and see if you think Gators aren't flooding

that site is trashed by gator fans.

What has Kiffin done? Kiffin has took all the pressure & worry of another Florida game for us Tennessee fan's & shoved it onto Floridas laps. Tennessee isnt suppose to be in the game come this Sept., heck the way everyone is talking we shouldnt even go to the Swamp. Florida has all the pressure on their shoulders to blow us out. If we even stay within 10 point's of them it will open up some eyes & let everyone know we are for real & we are coming back. Florida has to blow us out, if not it's a failure for them.

fixed that last line for ya

Weis is on his way out at ND. Meyer's always dreamed of coaching there. I think ND offers a boatload of money to Meyer after this season to get him out of Florida. It will have to be major money, way more than anyone in college FB, closer to NFL type money, with tons of benefits, incentives, etc., maybe $6-8 million per year.
