what i've learned on my short couple of months on volnation is that any board that draws posts from fans of other schools is inevitably going to get hijacked and turned into a pissing contest that can go on for dozens of pages...it's like volnation is a giant anthill and the gator, bammer, cock, dawg, and occasional duck (wheaton) posters that come on here are treated like invading scouts from other ant colonies and we act as soldier ants defending our home by piling on them with circuitous arguments, witty banter, and sometimes outright idiocy. however, without the occasional invader then the soldier ants might turn on each other so posters like lawgator are important to the board because they give the rest of us an avenue to vent our contempt for all other fanbases...wow i need to stop posting while drinking and watching the discovery channel.

That's pretty accurate... bammers take the worst beatings followed by cocks.

dawgs appear friendlier and lawgator is built into the site's functionality. i don't think he is a real person.

Oh yes! We are very afraid! Our coach has made them so mad they will try to beat us by 50-60 points instead of 30-40. We're so scared we may decide to not even show up in Gainesville come September. :mf_surrender:

As much as I like your optimism, I don't think we'll ever be able to dominate Bammer, UGA or Florida like we do Kentucky. I will keep dreaming though! :p

Yeah, its pretty pathetic. Its like my fourth graders had their internet access unblocked and one of them found this board.

I'd like to think my fellow fans would be a little less, erm, infantile in their humor given the intelligent posting that pervades this board, but apparently grown men and women aren't above homoerotic or scatalogical attempts at humor.

My complaint, if I am allowed to have one, is that just because I am a rival fan does not mean that I might not also be right.

This whole blow-up with Kiffin's comments to those boosters has taken on a life of its own and it doesn't deserve it. It may well turn out to benefit you in the end, I understand that.

But, I've made up my mind that whenever anyone posts a supporting comment for that ridiculous notion that Kiffin planned to falsely accuse Meyer of cheating so as to create some controversy so as to get some headlines so as to get some recruits, I'm going to voice my opposition to it. That's not what happened, you know it, grow up.

If you don't want to listen to a voice of reason on that, then use the ignore feature, because I'm not going to let it slide.

Seriously! What is the obsession with a team that you own 4 yrs running? The last 2 haven't been close, yet you got to make a shirt saying you aren't scared of that team. A team that lost to Wyoming for goodness sakes! UT won 5 games last year, yet Florida is making shirts that say they aren't scared of them. I sure as hell hope not! As much as lg1 doesn't want to admit it, Kiffin did exactly what he wanted to do. Whether it was on purpose or not, it worked. You just better hope you don't lose.

As I've been saying, complacency is Florida's biggest enemy this year. Its all about being on edge every weekend, even when heavily favored.

IMO, except for Florida, the SEC is a bit down this year. Florida's two biggest games appear on paper to be at LSU and hosting FSU. Georgia, UT, South Carolina, these are teams that are either rebuilding or reorganizing and Florida, on paper, is just head and shoulders above everyone else in the conference.

It would be very easy for the Gators to start taking teams for granted. But its still the SEC, these teams are all good, and so Florida has to guard against ... complacency.

Question. What is the talk at Florida about UM. I was listening to ESPN local radio show in Chattanooga yesterday. He was saying the talk is if Florida wins the NC again this year....and if Weiss has another bad year at ND that UM would go to ND for an unprecidented amount of money. What is you take?

Just know people are listening to what you say. People are seeing the, "the only thing that can stop us is ourselves" mentality. They want to see you lose. They will be aiming to do just that.

I'm all for it, though. Keep talking. Keep putting yourself higher and higher on that pedestal. It will make the fall that much sweeter.

A friend bought me a book for xmas. Its a series of interviews of UF players and coaches going back to the 60's, and it ends with Meyer. He talks about how he came to a point where chossing between UF and Notre Dame was really difficult for him, but in the end he visited UF and saw the town and the committment at the university to being top-notch and so he claims it was an easy choice then.

Now I know he was saying that for the book and the Florida fans he knows would read it. And I don't doubt but that he has a soft spot for Notre Dame. But I think he has to wonder whether he can recruit and get into school at Notre Dame the kind of athletes that are necessary to be nationally competitive.

I guess I'm saying that I wouldn't be totally floored by it. But I think he would need some kind of promise from the ND administration that they would give him some flexibility on admissions standards so he could recruit who he thinks he needs. So far, they haven't semed willing to do that for anyone.

I am well aware of that. For UF this year anything short of a national championship would be a let down. But on this board, in this place, the only game I care about in that regard is the UT game. And you are right, I am confident. Not going to sugar coat it. And if UT should pull the upset, I will be here, taking my lumps.
