Florida's backup QB. Someone give a scouting report please.

The little i read up on the QB i see that he wasn't very good at Purdue. His soph year he started and was 52% passing with more ints then TDs,10 TDs 11 INTs. His jr year he got the start for the start of the season but after throwing 8 INTs in 5 games he lost his starting job to a RS FR. 2014 Purdue record was 3-9. 2015 record was 2-10 they were 1-4 in the first 5 games that he started.

No doubt he played for some awful Purdue teams, which is a huge part of why he transferred to Florida. I'm curious to see what the guy can do with an elite defense to lean on, Antonio Callaway and Brandon Powell at WR, a security blanket at TE in Goolsby and what appears to be a deep, talented stable of RB's. Oh, and some proven offense/quarterback coaching.

All UT fans get scared of the backup QB (especially when it's Florida), because we have seen some unusual things. Sure, everyone remembers that in 2001 a great Vols team got beat in the SEC Championship by LSU's backup, but backups in general have been exceptionally good against the Vols.

Case and Point? Tyler Murphy.

Murphy was the Florida backup that came in during the UT game in 2013. He was fantastic against the Vols that day posting a QBR or 96.2. It was the 6th best game by any QB that week and the 70th best game by a QB all season (out of 1,603 total games in 2013 where a QB participated enough to qualify the QBR for statistical purposes). All in all, he looked above average to good on that day.

After the UT game, Murphy would go on to post a 47.0 QBR for all of the games he played in 2013. That average ranks him 98/128 total starting QBs that year. Basically, a QB that was barely a top 100 QB for the season posted a single game QBR that was in the top 5% of all games played by QBs that year. Had he not had the single-day 96.2 against the Vols, he likely wouldn't even have been in the top 100 for the year.

It's games like this in the past that get into your head as a fan and make you believe in curses.

That, and the Kentucky WR that lined up as QB a few years ago and made us look like a middle school defense. This has happened on multiple occasions.

I don't see our offensive line being tough enough up front. Florida's D will shut us down. There offense will generate enough points. I see this being a 17-10 type of game with Florida winning.

That was a Dooley team. By that point in the season, the team had quit. That was the lowest of the low as a Tennessee fan. "I will give my all today for Tennessee", was a joke in the last half of that season.

The huge part why he transferred was bc he didn't start. 8ints in 5 games tells me he is just not very good. he came out of high school as a 4 star #1 QB in Ohio so hes obviously talented. It seems maybe the game is to fast for him at this level and if that is the case then sec ball will be a nightmare for him. You're right about better QB coaching wish may be the difference.

Applebys is ok. It's decent for happy hour. They have this new cheeseburger egg roll thingy that's pretty good.

They/we do? Didn't know that. Gator fans despised Driskel and Treon Harris, we hardly even know Appleby. Seems to be a fine young man, we're glad he chose Florida.

I'd say Florida fans had no respect for Driskel because it seemed like he never came close to his potential.

We had no respect for Treon because he did.

The other guy he was competing with struggled too, bad offense, bad system, bad team. Ironically, his main competition also ended up transferring and is the new guy at LSU, Daniel Etling. He and Appleby spent most of two seasons battling and replacing each other at Purdue.

There's a very good chance they'll face each other as starters in a few weeks when UF/LSU play. How crazy is that?

Etling is not really that good ether but hes just good enough to keep the D honest and give fournette room to run.I live in Baton rouge so i here all the fans talk and what not and they are head over hills for Etling. I try telling them hes not that good but they dont want to here that. haha
