Florida Week

Vol fan living in Gainesville here- I've seen both of UF's games and saw the UT UCLA game.

My prediction is:

UF 60 UT 0

UT will not score & UF will run their speedy backs, Tebow will throw short & long, Tebow will also run and UF will probably run back 2 kickoff and or punts backs. The noise in the stands will be deafening and Crompton will be exposed.

I know this sounds harsh & it pains to type these words, but reality bites.

Kiffin ran his mouth and UT can't back it up. :banghead2: The UF fan base is so fired up for this game- this will be the worst beating UT has ever had in the post WWII era. I hope I am wrong.

Is it too late to get Fulmer and Sanders back?

Disclaimer: For the humoursly challenged the above statement is a just a joke.

In case you havent noticed Crompton has been exposed for the last 2 seasons.
and stfu about kiffin running his mouth, I have heard that too much, he was trying to breath life into the program. he has done that, now we have to be patient and let the coaches do the job.
Vince Lombardi couldnt make Jon Crompton into a world beater.

We might as well for this year, since it's still mostly his team.

Good Lord, I appreciate optimism, but I feel about as confident UT will beat Florida or even give them a good game as I did when a Wade Houston team would go to Kentucky and play.

Who are you to tell people to STFU? :wavey:

For the record, my picture is hanging in Stokley with the other All Americans from UT.

All Kiffin's bravado accomplished was to inflame other fans and more importantly the players, to want to RUTS on the Vols.

I don't think anybody, except Kiffin, expected UT to be competitive with UF this year. UB is going to make a statement for recruits on the scoreboard-

I was hoping Kiffin would do away with Fulmer's plodding offense, but you can't run if you can't pass & vice versa.

I hope the game is competitive, but I wouldn't put $ on it.

very true, and crompdaddy is the reason we cant do either of them

on a side note, its nice to see we have former vols on here.

Tim Tebow is going to have a field day. As bad as I hate to admit it, the guy is a real quarterback.

This.

And Kiffin knew he would be a great QB before many others did. There's a reason he tried to get Tebow to USC when he was there.

Just for clarification, I was on the track & field tem.

If I were UM and wanted to use Kiffin’s words against him, just before heading onto the field, I would “remind” the players that we playing UT today and ask them to watch a short DVD of Kiffin running his mouth about singing Rocky Atop after beating the Gators in BHG stadium.

I would then encourage them play smart, play hard and have fun.

To give you an example of how opposing coaches’ words and action can be used against them, one year we had a dual meet with bama in Tuscaloosa. The coach that coached me was in charge of travel arrangements and asked the bama coaching staff for a hotel a recommendation. Remember, this was way before Trip advisor. When we got to our “hotel” it was something out of psycho- The Moon Winks Inn. The roaches were huge, the place smelled like a high school locker room- it was awful. We were used to staying at Hyatt’s or Holiday Inn at worst.

At the team morning before the meet, our coaches told us they had heard reports that the team felt “hotel” was unacceptable and agreed with us. The coaches told us that the bama coaching staff had recommended that dump for us and we should demonstrate our displeasure on the track. We beat them very badly that day on their home track. Track and field doesn’t have the following of football, but this was in the early 70’s and UT beating bama in anything was very good news.

Point is, athletes of the caliber playing at Div I schools don’t need much motivation and the opposing teams should never give their opponents locker room board material and THE COACHES SHOULD DO LIKEWISE.

Kiffin needed to make some noise for the program, and signal that it was moving in a different direction, but bravado that he can’t hope to enforce is dumb.

Kiffin needs to point out to potential recruits that his staff has NFL experience and UT will implement NFL style offenses and defenses. If a high school kid wants to learn NFL style football, come to UT. If you are a defensive player, practicing against a NFL style offense will help showcase if you have NFL talent and if you get drafted, you won’t have to switch from defending a spread offense to a NFL style offense.

How many successful QB’s has UF produced for the NFL? Danny Werful was a great college QB and is a wonderful human, but his inability to throw deep kept him from being a player in the NFL. I don’t think Tebow will make it as a NFL QB. Running QBs in the NFL don’t stay healthy long, and Tebow’s long passes are often wobbly floaters.

Whatever happens, Kiffin better keep getting A+ recruits from all over the country. UT must recruit nationally, while UF has plenty of grade A talent with a 300 mile range of Gainesville and a huge base of high school coaches with a loyalties to UF.

If I were 6’4” high school drop back QB with a rocket arm, I know where I could get some playing time in front of 100,000+ NEXT year and it ain’t in Gainesville.
