Florida trash talk not a motivating factor for Vols

This year I am afraid it is their D that trumps our O, motivation will be smacked down. That said, I will drive the 6 hours through gasoline deprived territory to view this game. GBO

Oh hell, I didn't even think about the gas thing. Hmmm, I might have a problem. lol

Do you wanna win because you are competitive, or do you wanna win because somebody is talking smack? Hell, he's right! Screw the other team, it doesn't matter who it is. It's the team that is gonna win if you don't. Period. What should motivate you is the fact you are competitive and don't wanna lose. To anybody.

I (and the majority of fans) want to win period. We don't care about the how or why, we just want the streak over. If it takes trash talking to get us there so be it.

Florida trash talk not a motivating factor for Vols

"You shouldn't need the (trash talk) to motivate you," Tennessee coach Butch Jones said Monday. "If you are a true competitor and you have great competitive grit that we have talked about, these are the games you live for, these are the games you want to play in. When you only have 12 opportunities all year and you are a great competitor, you're up for every single game.
"So no, we don't use it as motivation. I am just working to get better. It doesn't do us any good to talk about it.

Do your talking on the field, PLEASE

Only 12 opportunities guess we're not going to a Bowl this year.

This game will be a defining moment for Jones ... Lose it and it's the beginning of the end... Book it

I agree, and if he wins it his credibility among other coaches, teams, talking heads, potential recruits, the fan base, even his own roster rockets up.

Debord needs to be in the press box four hours prior to the game like he was for UGA last year.

For the next four games at least.

Seriously? We absolutely should beat this team. Reserve all opinion until after Saturday... But calling for his head? This man has brought us back from 6 and 6 only 2 years ago... Brought us back from over a decade of less than mediocrity. Appreciate the dumpster fire he inherited and put out... He gets atleast 3 more years before I call for his head. He is a good coach, better motivater, and a good man off the field.

As a fan, can you honestly tell me that Tabor's numerous remarks, and Appleseed's remarks about "all stadiums being the same", don't make you want to seem them get their faces pounded into the ground that much more?

How much more then, do the players feel it? Much more. And if that helps motivate them, then so be it.

I remember back in 01', we were 18 point underdogs, and not given any chance to go into The Puddle, and beat them. After the game, Coach Fulmer mentioned how that had gotten under his guy's skin all week, hearing how they had not chance to win. And it motivated them, and the won.

Hopefully, this team will have the same resolve.

Needs to be up there by noon studying the plays and drinking the redbull!

Looking at the Vegas line printed in today's Nashville newspaper, it lists the Vols as nine point favorites.

Never recall the Vols as that big of a favorite over the gators.

Good thing my birthday is the week after, cause if we lose I might need a new TV lol

Oh damn, don't break expensive stuff! I go outside and stomp the hostas. Unless I'm at the game, then I just stomp all the way to the car.

As a fan I want them to get their you-know-what knocked in the dirt.

But I want our players to play THEIR game! Did you see our penalties last week? They couldn't control it against Ohio. How are they gonna control emotion against the gators? We cannot afford penalty yards this week. We need every single play, every single snap, every single yard to matter.

THEN they can set the record straight in smack talk.

Crap. I HATE football. I hate this season.

I'll just break the 55 in the bedroom not the 70 in the front room. Lol Seriously though last year I was too stunned to even be mad, I just sat there staring in disbelief.
