We Gator fans tend to get a bit over-involved emotionally in the outcome of every contest, I'll admit. We are very demanding and have high expectations. Its probably one of the reasons that the program is so successful.
We won't accept mediocrity just because the people responsible for it were successful say, oh, ten years ago .... So, while we'll be upset and demand better performance next time, you guys can come in here and join in the Phil Fulmer clipboard/clapping routine every time you get blown out and hand out some more raises and contract extensions.
even i have to admit.......all very well played....:birgits_giggle:Yes. And its been a long road for us to reach the top.
By the way, you do realize that football has been played after 1998, don't you?

now go away.
Odd. It seemed that at most about 1 out of every 4 or 5 photos or scenes was what you might call anti-Florida Gators, but it sure seemed like about 4 out of 5 were fairly celebratory of all of our recent successes. Not trying to be difficult, but I don't quite get it.

Correct. But your arrogance and smugness regarding recent success is annoying and will only make the inevitable reversal of fortune all the more Sweet.
I am sure of four things:
1) Its college football and so a reversal of fortune is indeed inevitable.
2) My smugness increases neither the speed with which it will happen, nor the depth to which we will fall.
3) UT fans will take great delight in the Gators' inevitable slide when it happens, whether I post about it or not.
4) Our slide from the top will not be at the hands of Phil Fulmer. It might be Richt, or it might be Jimbo Fisher at FSU or even a renewal of the might of Miami in a couple of years' time. But it will not be a Fulmer-led UT that knocks Florida from its perch.
No disagreement from me. :hi:
Thanks, but you don't count since it is well-established that we have the same sentiments about the whole Fulmer situation.
Man, I just had a thought that made me shiver.
What if Fulmer decides to pull a Paterno/Bowden routine and stay on board at UT until he's in his seventies?
couple of things......FSU only won 2 titles in the 90's...Nebraska won 2 titles in the nineties...Miami won 1....or 2?No program these days can have the kind of long-term success that Nebraska, Miami, and FSU had in the 80's and early 90's. I suppose an argument could be made that USC is doing something special in the 00's, but they haven't been in the title game for a couple of years and it just doesn't feel like they are sustaining it right now.
The advent of the BCS changes things, IMO. The measuring stick in the past was strictly national championships. But, since the BCS games pay out so huge now, it seems to me that if a school can appear in the BCS games for, say, 6-7 years in a given 10 year period, you would have to put them at that level.
I just don't see that happening and almost surely not for an SEC school.
Footnote: If you get to big games but then repeatedly get beat, it doesn't count. See e.g. tOSU. You've got to win some of those 6 or 7 BCS appearances.
hmy:

anyway....USC has won 2 this decade...though one is a split....
USC if they keep up what they are doing, will compare favorably with FSU of the nineties for consistency at the top.....the number pac 10 titles may rival the numver ACC titles as well as top 10 finishes.....
but, as for this decade, the dominating stories should be:
1. USC 2. the SEC 3. OSU and OK--OK has been very impressive, but they fall in to the same category as OSU...both have one title, both have played for others...both have been embarrassed in title games....but in the end, both have been pretty darn consistent this decade....at the top of their respective conferences, always around the top 10 etc....
Here is a much more entertaining video for you guys -- nothing but Erin Andrews. Personally, she doesn't do it for me. But, hey, if you guys like a Gator, and she's it, then more power to you.
