Florida streak (split)

What position group do you think yall have that is better?

I'd guess you think DBs are better. I'd say Most likely we're even at DB if both units play up to their potential.

I guess if you're factoring in potential and numbers... But based on productions of returning players, it's not even at DB or WR.

He made the claim. I l'll defer to OP on those metrics.

My bad, it seemed like it mattered to you what was used to determine which position groups where better.

I figure that if a team's line is bad, it's gonna make it harder on the rest, but any weakness should be exploited by the opposition. That will make this year's game tougher for the Gators, due to the improvement we have made. Of course I'm predicting a Vol victory as I would expect you to do the same for the Gators.

Some of you guys are beyond delusional. Make no mistake, the streak has become a psyche thing and it does matter. You guys talking about draft picks and overall talent have a point to an extent though. For most of the past 11 years Florida has had better talent and coaching than us. Having said that, it doesn't explain the last two years... Tennessee imploded and Florida has been able to escape with one point wins in the past two meetings between the two teams. Last year, when the game was on the line a freshman walk-one qb and a true freshman receiver won the fricking game on 4th and long. That has nothing to do with draft picks!!!!! 2 freshman players (one a walk-on) stuck the dagger in our heart when they had all but lost!!!! After the game coach McElwain said "When it came right down to it our players knew that Florida does not lose to Tennessee". That quote speaks volumes.... Florida expects to beat us every time we play. If you say the streak doesn't matter you are an idiot.

I agree there are many factors that could be included. OP used his opinion as fact without anything to support it. Reason I asked which factors we're including.

Also I've predicted UT the last two years to win.

Also,
If you'll notice Florida almost always plays their best game of the year when they play us, and Tennessee seems to struggle out of the gate. Last year, Florida was coming off a very close shave against Kentucky (a team we destroyed) and then they come out against us and are 5 for 5 on 4th downs. What kind of nonsense is that? The streak matters. I could go on with this all day.

It was convenient for him to say that AFTER the game. It's great sound bite. And he is right about the past 11 years and it stings, but come on, I remember them losing to us, it has happened in the past and it will happen again. I predict this year, of course I do.

This is gonna be a special year.

In my opinion anytime a poster is speaking about future events, they are posting their opinion, some may have research some or a lot of facts to determine their opinion, but all predictions are opinions.

Now when discussing the past, facts are facts. The fact is y'all have win 11 in a row, how that has happened is all opinion basted on the facts a person chooses to use to form that opinion. My opinion is the we have lost in so many ways it's ridiculous and the last time we won, was assisted by a bad call.

I would expect then you are predicting a loss for y'all again this year.

And I'm predicting a win, go figure.

I wouldn't necessarily say that UF plays well against UT but rather UT plays horrible against UF. '13-'15 UF played awful but still won.

Is Antonio Callaway even part of the team? Without him your WRs are as useless as ours.

Our DBs this year should be a lot better than last year. We had 2 seniors playing safety that weren't very good last year. If they weren't seniors they wouldn't have played. Their replacements this year (Gaulden and Kelly Jr.) are a lot better. I also like Cam Sutton over Jalen Tabor. Quincy Wilson and Justin Martin are a wash.

So you're frequently wrong, is what you're saying? :)

I agree with Boca, it's not so much that UF plays great vs the Vols in the past few years, rather that the Vols have tended to play down vs the Gators...particularly late in the game.

Actually Florida's best game was the next week when they beat Ole Miss 38-10.

Also I think 15 Florida players being drafted the last 2 years compared to 0 Vols had a little something to do with the games.

Yes.

Nothing out there supports your claim. Tabor has better measurables, stats and was named First team ALL SEC. PFF metrics gives him a higher grade also. Come on.

Wilson was better last year.

5 for 5 on 4th down is hardly awful. Maybe clutch is the better word. Florida is always clutch when they play us. I believe that is part of the streak. Their players are highly confident when they play us and they go out and execute when it really matters. I.E scoring the game winning touchdown on 4th and long late in the 4th qtr.

Coaching lost that game last yr imo. Our talent was just as good. Had alot of great Sophs. which will flood the drafts for now on.

We're they 5 for 5 because of their execution or UT's mistakes. There were 3 UT defenders around UF's receiver on the game winning catch. It just so happened all 3 UT defenders ran into each other.

Starts from the coaches. Janceks defense played soft on all of those 4th down plays. If im gonna get beat...it will be coming after you.

And now I hear Benny Hill music.

Thanks, Boca.

For me what was more disturbing was after Florida scored to get it to 27-21 our offense ran clock rather than going to get more points. Then we get them in 4th and long and go conservative again.

I'm glad all that is behind us, 2016 time to cut loose.

Not the last 2 years it didn't.

A Florida QB (Driskel) who just got drafted by the same "idiot" GMs/ NFL guys that refused to draft Marquez North, was the worst player on the field in Neyland two years ago. Remember, 3 picks deep in his own territory, and a QBR around 8.5?

Another Florida player, LB Antonio Morrison, just got drafted despite running a freaking 5.1 40.....and production doesn't matter to you, so why in the world do you take any stock in who got drafted from which team?

Neither freshman WR Calloway nor redshirt freshman QB Grier got drafted this year and I think you'll agree they were somewhat instrumental to Florida win #11 straight last year no?

And draft pick CB Hargreaves had an injured back and played sparingly and, as was pointed out on ESPN, with poor effort vs Tennessee last year.

And our scrub OLs like Kerbyson must've done something right in keeping all those drafted Florida DLs from making tackles while we ran for 250+ yards last year.

Come on D4H, you're all over the map here. Try some consistency would ya?

HG, you do understand who you're arguing with right? On one hand, Tennessee had no chance to beat Florida last year, 8 months ago, because the Gators had so much more talent, no even close. But now, a short time later, Florida has no shot at staying with the Vols because we're more talented at every spot on the field. You got that, right?

Do the Vols rebound IF they lose to UF this year with all the hype going into season?

Of course. The real question is what will happen to y'all, if y'all lose to Tn, because that just doesn't happen.

I'm more concerned with GA away than Florida at home.

Looking forward to a wonderful year!
