Florida or Vandy

Now, let me just preference by saying, I think we'll beat NMS, Florida, and vAndy. But just as an exercise, assuming we win at NMS, if we had to split, who would you choose to beat? I know, Florida has been a thorn for decades, but vAndy?? I despise Pavia--just as a person. I'd live with the Florida curse a little longer just to kill any hope vAndy fans have. What about you?
I just don’t play these what if games. I want to win all three of the remaining regular season games and see where we place for postseason play.

Same. I'm growing to hate the night game. I have to wait all day in anticipation for the game and then they tend to struggle in that spot.
I like night games in September. The rest of the season, the earlier the better. Play them and get it over so I can watch the remaking games that day in my Tennessee Room.

I have to totally disagree. Face it, Vandy is having a great year. Anyone paying attention last year (which I was… ) could see it coming. I believe we can beat Vandy, but it will require 4 quarters of quality play.
Florida on the other hand is in terrible shape. It would be embarrassing beyond belief to lose that one.
All that said… I’m praying our Vols don’t overlook NMS. We have a history of that and allowing some highly motivated pissant squad to win when they play waaayyy over their head, and our guys are out there just going through the motions.
In most cases, I would agree with you on Vandy. However, even with NIL and the portal they should never be ahead of us in football anyway. Saying that, if we lose to them, that’s a major statement as much as when they beat Fulmer, Dooley and Jones.

I think we could lose both games and I won't have any say as to whether Heupel is terminated or given a life-time contract. Based on the actual on-field performance of the Vols this year + results in the swamp + Vandy's performance --- why is it so "nega" to have little confidence about these two games?

On the flip side, if TN wins both games I will be extremely positive about the job Heupel has done to finish the season.
It’s either that or #3 in Tennessee. Memphis & Vandy poised for playoffs!!!

I’m see a lot of fear and concern about Vandy this year. Yes, they are competitive this year but I still don’t think they are all that. They are not better than GA or OK, teams we played with at home (yes, we lost but really should have won). I am really not even thinking about the Vandy game that much. Even though Florida is terrible, we just HAVE to get past this psychological baggage with them. It’s now or never. Who cares about Vandy. If they sneak past us and win, we just go back to beating them 90% of the time starting next year. We need to completely conquer our real enemy while they are down and set the stage for years to come. If we beat Florida I am very confident we will beat Vandy too. This is a sequential process.

….and Heupel needs to go down to the Swamp and pretend it’s 2021. Don’t take your foot off the gas, not even once. Take no prisoners even if we are up 50 points. Quit all of this cute stuff trying to play not to lose. Try and score every possession as quickly as you can. No more up the middle 3 straight times, no more trying to get tricky with the play clock. Play with desperation and urgency ever single second we have ball into the gun goes off.

Tenn's best win is against a 5-5 Miss State team. This year I'd prefer to beat Vandy because Pavia is so insufferable (and Vandy has a winning record). Tenn is certainly capable of winning both games but they are capable of epic self destruction and then Hype goes into terrified coaching mode.

The OU game was just exhausting to see Tenn squander another opportunity.

Vandy is not Vandy. Vandy is a top 15 team. Y'all need to get over the name and look at the substance.
I really don't care if Vandy is #1 in the nation there's no circumstance in God's creation that makes it ok to lose to Vanderbilt unless things are horribly out of control at Tennessee.

there are certainly red lines in life. one of those red lines is that you can never be worse than Vanderbilt. if so, you're out pack your damn bags. you lost the game of life.

Well yeah, but I was addressing the issue from a sane perspective.

When the same group of posters constantly post the same stuff in every thread, then come back any time we lose a game they said we would lose to remind everyone they predicted, it certainly gives that impression. Especially when those same people are conspicuously quiet after the games we win despite their prediction.
And you have the same group of posters predicting 30 point wins each and every week calling anyone that thinks it's going to be a tight game idiots/cowards/losers because of that thought.

You are correct, they haven't done it against the good teams this year. People claiming we would be embarrassed by anyone we would potentially face in the very slim chance we make the playoffs either haven't paid attention or are just being way overdramatic. We have played at least two teams who will be very competitive in the playoffs and neither of them embarrassed us.
And we have played at least 2 teams who will barely sniff a bowl game just as close.

This will be Vandy's Superbowl. Will they come out tight in Neyland, will be pressure that they have never faced as a team for over 100 years. They were good in the early 1920s. but have been an afterthought ever since. Bama blew them out at Bama and basically Texas did @ TX but let the score 2 times as the game wound down. Vandy had to play a bad Auburn team to OT at Home and Pavia had his best game (stats wise) of his long storied 7 years of college career and were still lucky to pull a W vs an also ran. Its according to whether Vol players are still locked in with no playoff looming. IMO

If we lose to NMSU, there won’t be any mattresses left in Knoxville.
Oh, for sure. But then after we sweep up the ashes and beat Vandy, someone could post a thread titled, “Lots of people are asking if NMSU is better WITHOUT Pavia, Stowers, and Kill?”

True. We see dumber threads on a daily basis.

I’m not 100% sure we win either but I’d rather beat Florida just because I hate them more.

Vandy will lose Round 1 of the playoff or get left out regardless.

Prove it. Where are you seeing groups of posters predicting 30 point wins every week? Who exactly predicted we would beat Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma or even Mississippi State or Arkansas by 30 points?

And "Vols by fiddy!!!" "WGWTFA!!!" are not overdramatic on the other side of the spectrum?
If you haven't been around long enough to understand the origins of those comments and why people say that, then I can understand where you are coming from a little better.

Glad the Vandy game is at home. Would’ve been neat to see the stadium turnout if at Vandy. Either way we need to win at the swamp. JA will need to protect the football.
