Now, let me just preference by saying, I think we'll beat NMS, Florida, and vAndy. But just as an exercise, assuming we win at NMS, if we had to split, who would you choose to beat? I know, Florida has been a thorn for decades, but vAndy?? I despise Pavia--just as a person. I'd live with the Florida curse a little longer just to kill any hope vAndy fans have. What about you?

Beat Florida and if Vandy won on a controversial call similar to Clemson recent loss and we can bitch about it - that is ok. Then let Vandy upset Ohio State or Indiana in the playoffs and Clark Lea leave for PENN State. Anyway if Vandy did have a Cinderella year once a century no sweat to me. I live in East TN so middle TN fans I understand this might not be popular.

So what makes you think we’ll win out? Based on the way Tennessee has played and coached in this puzzling regression, I would not all be surprised if they lost to Florida and Vandy.
Really not the question, dude. Pay attention. Geez, give your hate a break.

Not gonna hurt any Florida fans feelings or dash their dreams if we win down there.

Vandy, on the other hand, we can absolutely ruin their season if it comes down to it.

A loss to FLA will sting, I’ve been stung before. Losing to Vandy, that I cannot abide.

Florida all day long. We still have like, what, an 80% win % against Vandy. With Florida, it has been more lopsided against us. This year is an opportunity way good to waste. Even though Vandy is allegedly better than Florida this year, I just don’t fear them that much and am more confident we will beat them. With Florida, as we all know, it doesn’t matter how bad they are. The psychological damage from this series just makes it seem like we have no chance. Spurrier is still living rent free in our heads even though he’s long gone.

I think the curse and psychological damage is mainly to us fans. I don’t think our current players would or should put much into there being a curse (at least I hope not)

Well, @dduncan4163 ....here's where we diagree. While I dislike the Gators, my loathing & disdain for the commode-doors exceeds that. So, let's just dispose of both of 'em!
I always thought of Vandy as the game that we got to throw sugar cubes in the stadium. They are not the same team this year. They are well coached and disciplined. I respect them. Florida is like Herpes. Even when you think they are gone, they come back. I don't want to lose either, but watching Vanderbilt in the playoffs would remind me of the comedy that football has become. Never in my life would I have expected Vandy to be in a New Years day type bowl and I still don't know if I believe they will.

If we lose to Vandy this year, it will show we have regressed badly under CJH.
I have to totally disagree. Face it, Vandy is having a great year. Anyone paying attention last year (which I was… ) could see it coming. I believe we can beat Vandy, but it will require 4 quarters of quality play.
Florida on the other hand is in terrible shape. It would be embarrassing beyond belief to lose that one.
All that said… I’m praying our Vols don’t overlook NMS. We have a history of that and allowing some highly motivated pissant squad to win when they play waaayyy over their head, and our guys are out there just going through the motions.

This Vandy team is not your typical Vandy team. They are having a great year. Don't get me wrong —I still want to beat the brakes off them —but they are not a bad team this year. I hate the Gators and most of their obnoxious fans. Let's win out. GO VOLS

Florida is the team I want to beat most each and every year. We haven't won in the Swamp since 2003. We have to get that monkey off our back this year.
We're finally getting to the point in recruiting where we are THE name with instate recruits...even in Nashville. Not sure I want all the buzz being about Vandy in the playoffs while we prepare for a bowl game.

The UF game is an albatross, but it's something we've come to live with. Vandy in the playoffs? That's unfathomable and completely unacceptable. Under no circumstances can UT allow that abomination especially with the game being in Knoxville.

My mind can't conceive of the fall out from that loss. It would historically bad on every level. Death blow for Heupel's career at UT, too. Unforgivable.

Don’t like Vandy . This year however if they have a playoff shot and we don’t l don’t care about playing them just to be the spoiler. Sure go have our best game of the year against them knock them out when we have done everything possible to ruin our own season coaching as well.

Right. People need to get over the name. Vanderbilt is a fantastic football team. Florida is a trainwreck.

I want to beat Florida because we've been cursed in Gainesville and we need to break that curse. It's important for the psychology of future matchups. We won't get a chance to win down there for 4 more years and, when we do, they won't be this bad.

If we lose to Vandy, that sucks, but this is their year. We'll go back to owning them soon enough. And we can get revenge next year (unlike Florida).

It's Florida. By a longshot. Breaking the Swamp curse is about the only meaningful step forward in the program that we can still accomplish this year. And it would be a big one, no matter how bad they are.
