Florida-LSU thread

they talked **** and got beat up in the trenches on both sides esp the the DL the gators OL took Arden Keys comments personally from what I could tell

Hell we even had the better RB duo in the second half dudes were running hard

No miracles necessary

Kind of reminds me of tenn game this year one could say it's miracle you scored 38 points on UF defense in one half but I'd say you just kicked our ass

I'm gonna be pretty bummed if we end up facing another good team like Louisville or Michigan and get our asses kicked

Those games aren't as meaningless as some people like to say it depends on who you beat but they can def help propel a program

**** look at Clemson after they beat Lsu that one year things really started to change

When Clemson parlays a bowl win into a national title, let me know...them's the stakes for Clemson fans these days.

For proof as to how meaningless bowl wins are, take a look at UT's last two bowl wins. They destroyed Iowa, and one season later Iowa found themselves in the B1G title game, and a win away from the CFP.

UF was taken to the woodshed by Michigan, yet is playing in the SECCG for the second straight year...in spite of UT manhandling Northwestern in a bowl game and getting all kinds of pre-season hype.

Unless you're in the final 4, all bowl games are by and large meaningless.

Bottom line is that both our teams have a long way to go before they are championship caliber.

l stand by the fact that Harbaugh led Michigan and Louisville w/ bridewater were good teams

Northwestern and iowa? Not so much

And I stand by the fact that any bowl that doesn't result in a national title is a meaningless bowl, and has no bearing whatsoever on the following season.

Missed the game. Can someone please give me a rundown? What little I heard on the radio didn't do me much good.

agree to disagree

I think when you have good run like Michigan state Clemson or Stanford have had recently it's to be commended and the big post season wins those teams have have accumulated def help in the big picture

A lot of people watch those big bowl games

Michigan State, Clemson and Stanford all have something in common over the last 35 years.

I'm good with whatever bowl game we get.

I wouldn't blame the Sugar for passing on us...we don't travel like we used to.

I don't think it's a "pass" type thing anymore for them.

When the contracts were redone to make the Sugar Bowl into an "SEC Champion vs Big 12 Champion" setup (in part to rival the Rose Bowl's similar setup), one of the rules written in their contract regarding selection was that if the champion of either conference (or both) went to the playoffs, the bowl had to take the next highest ranked team in that conference.

It sounds like the rule might have possibly been put in place to more help the smaller brand schools in the conference (so that the bowl couldn't pull anything like "well Mississippi State is #13 at 9-3 but LSU is ranked #15 and they're such a bigger brand name with so many more traveling fans and potential watchers."

Again, though, it's not so much a "Sugar Bowl's passing on you guys" as their having to take the 2nd highest ranked SEC team if the SEC Champ is in the playoffs.

Which a loss to Alabama might very well do (not to mention that plus a loss to FSU almost certainly do).

I never again want to hear any UT fan or coach use injuries as an excuse for underachieving. Florida was missing a ton of starters, including the QB, and found a way to get it done.

This is why that crybaby Foley wanted an early game -- will be glad when that jerk is gone

so he is a crybaby to not get a night kickoff besides also giving up the home game?? Oh I see.... #stupid
The original kick was an early kick anyways of the postponed game.

And Alleva is not at fault for not coming to Gainesville on the 19th to play UF at home?? Yet we were scared.....

Not sure why LSU rescheduled the game at all to be honest. Just because Florida won doesn't mean they get to rewrite history.

Nice win on Florida's part, but not sure why the Florida coach seems mad.

Clearly, McElwain's perception is that LSU was being unreasonable in their demand that, if the game were to be rescheduled, then it had to be at LSU. Whether that perception is correct is not the point. Certainly, people could disagree with that, but that is his perception of how it transpired.

So then, going in as the Walking Wounded, and a two touchdown dog, Gators get the W. So I think he was definitely enjoying what he perceived to be a pretty rich irony.

See you in Gainesville next year.

And the year after that.

He also thinks toothpaste is optional, so.

He might be right that LSU was unreasonable but to be honest I haven't heard any real account from him. If he wants to continue to be a baby, he is free to do so... and the general public is still free to call him one.

I'm not going to Gainesville next year.

Perception of Florida probably will just continue to get worse at this rate. imo Each his own though. The win doesn't rewrite the history.

Nice win by the football team, not sure what exactly the AD/coach are all about. Very strange.

National perception is UF balled out defensively, manned up and beat LSU in their house as a 14-point underdog, after being called out publicly by Alleva, Guice, and the entire state of Louisiana. :eek:lol:

The team played a nice game, that is separate from the rest of the stuff the AD/coach/school concocted. The win does nothing to reverse that and the coach didn't help the perception. imo Rarely works out for a coach that can't handle the pressure.
