Florida Looks Beatable

After our sound whooooping of Chattanooga (woooweee), our team may be in high spirits, but FL will be they're first foray into SEC play this year, the players from FL may just be a little better than those they've become accustomed to. We've had a tendency to get our teeth kicked in during the first half, and all but quit for the second half. I believe when all the hype is set aside, and kick-off starts the game, we'll see what our team is made of before the first quarter clock hits zero. SEC teams have historically been among the best in the nation, not all of them of course, but FL isn't a slouch, they'll be at home, and they have been laughing at our GS and BYU play, I'd say they are fired up too.

All i wanna see Saturday is some fight... a loss is expected but anything can happen when the team is playing hard.

Have Florida Fans have been "Starving the Gators", to make for a massacre of biblical proportions?

If you don't believe past performances have an impact on the current match ups then you haven't been paying attention. From a psychological standpoint alone, the opponent coming into a hostile road environment with a history of losing to the opposition does not help said team.

Factor that along with once a few big plays are made against that team and they're down by 7 or 14, the old "here we go again" mentality appears and can be disastrous if senior leadership is missing.

Since 1992, when both teams entered the eastern division of the SEC, Tennessee has won only 6 times against Florida. Six. Over a period of 27 seasons. In several of those contests, Tennessee had more talent on the field than Florida.

History is not on our side.
There is literally a logical fallacy named after the crummy logic you tried to pass off, and that the poster in question responded to.

Hint for the future. A bit of humility would do you well and make you look less silly after someone highlights the point you missed.

I'll repeat though. UT is most likely to lose Saturday. It's because of the weaknesses in this team as opposed to the statistics about previous teams and former backup quarterbacks.

Dat's it OC, dat's it

The ironic thing is that the last ten years have less bearing on the game than Jennings heart. I doubt we win, but the loss won't be because previous teams lost.

I've been watching Tennessee football since the early 80's. We always have streaks with our rivals. Alabama, Florida, Georgia. Funny I think of them as rivals when most fans of those teams just consider us an automatic win and not even a worthy rival anymore. Anyways, years long streaks where we always lose or always win are the norm with these teams. Of course we're losers for many years now. And usually these teams always tend to have the longer winning streaks against us. Particularly Alabama and Florida. Georgia is working on getting there.

I'm telling you right now it DOES matter what has happened to us at the hands of these teams in the past 10 years. Tennessee will find a way to lose against them and it doesn't matter how good or bad we are. That's what we do. It's not earth shattering info most long term fans know this. So I'll say it again. I'll have to see us beat Florida to believe it. Talk is cheap. Time to put up or shut up.

Some would call that the statistical fallacy. Others simple superstition.

Few would call it valid logic.

It's tiresome to have to keep repeating this, but... If\when we lose Saturday, it will be because of the weaknesses and failures of this team as opposed to the mojo left by former players, and coaching staffs that have moved on.

And f or the record, pointing out the flip flops in streaks argues against your point that history decides future.

Florida has played two teams better than BYU, neither at home, and they are 3-0. We've played three team equal to or worse than BYU, all at home, and are 1-2. We do not have a good enough team for this, especially considering that JG is apparently the best option we have. Peterman was better and we saw how that went.

Absolutely zero reason to lose this game listening to the pumpers, so put your confidence ITT and answer.

Backup QB, UF is overrated and we are more talented, we beat UTC easily and are the most improved team in the nation from Week 1.

Call it whatever you want. I want to see a win. I'll be surprised and glad. I just think it's funny and also foolish for people telling themselves "Florida looks beatable". Florida has taken care of their business up to this point and they pretty much always take care of business against us.

That has little to do with claiming that past games dictate future results with different players and entire staffs at play. That is irrational superstition.

The fact of the matter is that Florida looked beatable. The problem is that we are young and inexperienced, lagging behind Florida in speed, strength and experience. It's ridiculous to expect a win Saturday.

Notice the use of current facts in that analysis, and the lack of superstition parading as logic.

I dont want to jinx it, but if we make even more strides next week like we did today.....I think Florida is beatable (not saying we win), but I think we will could put ourselves in a good place going into the late 4th quarter.
KY should have won that game but KY has a better O line, D line and QB than Tennessee. Gators will win by 3 touchdowns

Tennessee hasn’t been good for 14 years

I love our "fans". We should just forfeit the season. Might as well set 1-11 as our new worst season. Saves money for all and we don't have to worry about any injuries before the end of the season. When does basketball start?

Even after a win gloom and doom.

They’ve got confidence

Let’s just play the game before we chalk up the loss
