When the first game in the rain? Since then the offense has moved the ball up and down the field pretty easily

This is the best group of skill guys fla has had in a long time

Florida's not that good but neither are we..Why is nobody bringing up what Miami did to App St. at thier house??? I have no confidence in us moving the ball against Florida except throwing it up to malone a few times and hoping he comes down with it.

They're giving up 127 yards to those teams. Yeah, 2 of those 3 teams are bad offensively, but UF is only giving up ONE HUNDRED TWENTY SEVEN YARDS. I don't care who it's against, 127 yards is 127 yards.

Edit: According to cfbstats.com, Kentucky is 68th nationally in total offense....33 spots ahead of Tennessee.

i think i have. their front 4, our o line.

that's a mis match right now. if you can't see that, then you're choosing not to, which is fine. or you don't know what you're talking about. either way, pond or pool.

and just to be clear, i'm not saying that i think FL's defense is good because of who they've played. they haven't played anyone worth mentioning.

but their defense has handled those teams like a good defense should. they've not even given up garbage points. 16 sacks in 3 games? folks that more than 5 a game. again, against inferior competition, but they're handling that inferior competition like you would expect.

anyway.... this week it's a considerable step up this week for them, no disagreement.

but if you acknowledge that, as a TN fan, then you also have to acknowledge that it's a step, or two, up for us as well.

that's all. i'm not saying we can't or won't win. just that to win, we have to find a way to win that match up. and right now, i don't see us winning it.

Look, the good news is at the end of the game the questions about the Vols offensive line will be answered. If they hold up under what looks to be a really really good D-line.. then you're good :good!:

not really. i don't think we'll have Chance Hall for the FL game, he will be back though sooner than later.

get him and Jack Jones in the line up, after the re-shuffling we've already done, and then we'll know the answer to the O Line. we miss Chance a lot more than most of us anticipated.

unfortunately for us, by the time that happens, it may not matter, if we lose Saturday.

Current assessment by position:

- QB - Advantage UT. Would have been a close one if Del Rio were playing (Del Rio better passer, Dobbs better runner). Now, it's clearly UT.
- RB - Advantage UT. But I'm not sure why, giving the nod to Hurd/Kamara based on reputation only. UF has 4 quality SEC RB's and the true Freshman Perine kid is showing signs he may be special. But based on experience and having some significant SEC whiskers with Hurd, UT gets the nod.
- OL - Advantage UF. Sharpe, Ivey and Dillard have been excellent, that's the Center, LG and LT. They've done some shuffling at RG and RT but bottom line, UF has only given up 1 sack through 3 games and a few hurries, and they've thrown the ball a ton. UT's o-line has been a mess.
- TE - Advantage UF. Goolsby has been all-SEC caliber through 3 games, his backup Lewis is playing well too. I saw UT's TE drop an easy TD and hasn't stood out much otherwise. Croom coming on makes this closer, but Goolsby still gives UF the edge.
- WR - Advantage UF. Callaway is the best WR in this game, maybe the best in the SEC. Brandon Powell is next. Malone has been very impressive for UT, give the guy a passing QB and a o-line that can protect and he'd be even better.

- DL - Even. Barnett is a stud, and UT has solid players at every spot, with some depth. UF's D-line has been off the charts good, 16 sacks, best in America versus the run, multiple dudes in the backfield on every play. But when SEC play starts, some of that will level off. Both teams are very deep and talented here.
- LB - Advantage UF. Would have been very close until the UT injuries. Kirkland doubtful and JRM banged-up, while Jarrad Davis has been ferocious and Alex Anzalone runs around looking like the next Clay Mathews and not just because of his hair. Anzalone has been more than UF had hoped for and they had super high expectations. Such a shame Kirk and JRM are battling injuries.
- DB - Advantage UF. Again, such a shame Sutton is out, but I would have given UF the nod even with Sutton playing. UF has the best corner combo in America in Wilson/Tabor and one of the best safeties in America in Marcus Maye.
- ST - Even. Who knows with kickers and who cares about punters. Callaway is special on punt returns, but Berry is special on KO returns (although UF's kicker likely won't give him a chance). Even.
- Coaching - Advantage UF. Sorry, not to offend anyone, Butch has been very average to this point in year 4, Mac has an SEC East title under his belt in year 1.

i get what you're saying on the D line, i'd give FL a slight edge there. LB definitely FL with all the injuries. DB's, withe injury to sutton, and seeing #12 line up, definitely FL.

and while you want to give the nod to FL's o line, i'll say it's a push. while i've been giving your defense credit despite the competition level, it works against you on the O line.

is Callaway playing? if he's 100%, it's him and Calvin Ridley at the top of the SEC WR. the issue with us is we haven't had anyone else step up alongside Malone.

TE...we haven't used the TE enough to warrant a comparison imo.

for me, bottom line is this.....TN is loaded on potential. we have talent. everywhere. if they get it together, we can beat FL. or anyone else on the schedule.

if we see the same inconsistent, mistake prone bunch, then we won't.

As a running/scrambling/ad-libbing QB, you're right, not even close, Dobbs may be the best in the SEC, among the best in America (hard to say anyone is better than Lamar Jackson).

But as a precision passer, I'd say Del Rio can definitely hold his own with Dobbs and just about anyone else.

Callaway is playing from all I've heard. It's a thigh bruise, word is he would have played last week if it were a big game.

Agree with your comment regarding TN being loaded on potential. Im expecting another nail biter.

Not bad...but I think you underestimate how bad UF's offensive line is, missing Riles and Jordan. The most noise Ivey's made all season is getting ejected last week.

Goolsby and Wolf are a push at TE. I've seen Wolf catch more than he's dropped over the past few seasons. And I hold Goolsby responsible for Del Rio's injury. He better ball out this week.

me too. defensive game/offensive struggle, whatever perspective you choose.

i don't see either team getting more than 20ish points, w/out NOTD's....which could happen.

If Del Rio was a great precision passer, he would have started his college football career on scholarship.


Instead, he was a walk-on and scout team quarterback.


Then he transferred to the OSU Beavers who are not exactly a football powerhouse. Those coaches told him he was too short to play scout team quarterback.


Del Rio is a b-u-m.


Appleby can't hit the side of a barn, but at least he can see over the top of linemen helmets.

defensively, it is hard to find a better team....say what you want about the teams they have played so far, but that team is a beast on D....Oline sucks like ours but they are not to be slept on IMO......
