I just don't get this narrative. Kirby is a little punk but jeezus, he's 52-14, he ain't the second coming of Saban like some dwag fans think, but he's a pretty good coach. He continues to win 11, 12 games a year. He's lost to Saban 3 times and to the greatest college football team of the last decade plus (2019 LSU), the only game he's lost since his first year that wasn't to a good team was that South Carolina game. I can't think of anyone outside of Saban who can claim to have done better as far as not losing to knuckleheads is concerned. Dabo has lost to Pitt and Syracuse but it didn't hurt him because the ACC is a freaking cake walk. Riley lost to Kansas State. Ohio State has been bent over by Purdue a time or two.

Yea nearly the same record that the man they ran out of town had. With the same talent who lost to Butch.

He's got nearly the same record Richt had his first 5 years but Richt didn't get fired because of those first 5 years. I've lived in Georgia for 20+ years, they were pretty happy with Richt back then. He got fired for 2010-15. Richt regressed. He was:

64-29 from 09 to 15', but 82-22 from 01' to 08'.

It's still a disgrace the way the UGA fans treated Richt. They were nothing for about a decade before he got there, and now it looks like Parkinson's may have been impairing him some down the stretch.

I think Richt and Fulmer both ran their course. Many coaches get somewhat burnt out from trying to stay at the top of the heap. They get older, have other things occupying their mind (they are not 100% committed), and unknowing to them they lose a step. A few don’t, but I think Mack burnt out at Texas and is rejuvenated at NC. We will see how long he wants to give that 100% effort again.

How confident are Florida fans in Emory Jones?

More confident than I was in Kyle Trask ahead of last season and definitely more confident than I was in Feleipe Franks ahead of 2018 and 2019. Franks turned out to be pretty good under Mullen, Trask turned out to be special. Emory is the first QB Mullen has coached since his return to Florida who can run and throw. True dual-threat. That means a huge chunk of playbook that has been dormant for a few years is opened back up. Will be fun to watch.

Mullen won with a QB not even tailored to his offense. He's gonna barbecue us with Jones.

It has to be Ga or Bama first. Florida has a spell over the Vols. Even during Fl‘s worst coaches and Tenn’s best, Florida still wins. I’d say Ga soon.

Emory averaged almost 7 yards per carry last year when the whole world knew he was running the ball. Emory is also surrounded by some real dudes at RB which will create a “pick your poison” scenario for defenses. And his arm talent and passing is good enough to make defenses pay when they start keying on read-option runs.

It’ll look way different than the offenses under Trask, but I think it’ll be effective again.

The key to Florida’s season is defense. If it’s 2019 style defense (9th in America), Florida is in business. If it’s the 2020 defense, Florida will lose 4-5 games.

I agree with this almost entirely.

However, the schedule is so damn bad that losing 5 games would be really difficult even with last year's defense.

Emory isn't the passer Trask is, but won't have to be because defenses will be forced to play Florida differently. And the running game will be a ton more effective because there is a running QB. Should Jones get hurt, I trust Richardson as well. Truth be told, Richardson is probably the better overall athlete.

Good point on the schedule, and agree regarding AR. That guy appears to be something special.

I think UT will beat Florida first. I’d love for it to be ‘Bama though! But it’s like the Lawrence guy on here says… 0-12.

Who do you think we beat first of the big three Florida , Georgia and Bama to end the losing streak against them?

I think the category is “the big two” and adding Florida to that is comical. UF repeatedly struggles with Vandy, UK and loses a few games every year. We just suck that bad.

IF you are talking about beating any of them this year.....I do not see it happening (as much as I would be throwing down and celebrating if they did). I think we will put points on the board.......But not as much as the other team will. That (us putting points on the board) will be a welcomed change!!!
