Florida game time tentatively set...

I was just saying that even though UGA is tentatively set for 3:30, it is the only chance we have to play a CBS night game bc of the double header that day, and CBS' ability to change the time of the game 6 days prior to depending on each team's record at that point.

I'm really wanting a night game in Athens w/ their black uni's on so we can beat up on em

I thought we were gonna wear OUR black unis. :)

Oh, I see what you're saying.

I refuse to be intimidated by Athens. Day or night, black or red, they can do whatever they want to psyche us out. The past two years say we aren't scared of Jawja.

We wear our "Vols from Hell" jerseys..and the smell of sulpher and burnt flesh...meets our opponents on the field!

TennesseT, you are the only person I've ever heard of liking Vern Lundquist. He is absolutely terrible. It's like he's not even paying attention to the game and he has a man-crush on Tim Tebow. I always put it on the radio so I don't have to listen to the bozos on TV.

Whether game time affects the outcome or not, night games against rivals are special. I doubt that any rational fan who has been to a reasonable number of games would argue with that. There's just something about tailgating until close to sunset, kicking off as it cools down a bit, the lights, the dark sky, the fireworks. . . .

And, that holds true on the road, as well. The scene at the UGA game a couple of years ago was ridiculous (I'm not just speaking of the coeds). I can still see the stacks of UT fans lining the stairwells and the upper deck singing Rocky Top and waving shakers after the game was over. Of course, Georgia's stadium adds a little with all the display and sound work.

I'm not saying it's not more enjoyable, just that it doesn't give you the edge most people think.

To steal a thought from bill, this game will be "epic" played at 9:00, noon, 3:30, 9:00 or midnight.

Oh, I agree. I guess the overall experience would be a little better because that would include more tailgating as well as a great rivalry under the lights. For a one-off trip, getting a night game is fantastic. 3:30 is the next best thing.

Night games are better IMO, but we have had some of our best games at Neyland during the day the past few years.

this is crap........night games get me fired up. day games get much less exposure. you would think that maybe they would have the defending heisman winner and eric berry on prime time but i guess not

CBS has first pick of SEC games and they can't have a night game on that date. Plus, you should get fired up regardless of the time

Brady, are you a closet UT fan? Or are we just your open #2?

I have a lot of family that went to UT. I root for the Vols in the SEC and love college football. Great atmosphere, awesome stadium, passionate fans, count me in. Plus, the UT fans were tremendous in 2001 when we played.

I got my buddy to agree and we're headed down for UT-UF for our bye. Score.

You all should understand that cbs gets only one primetime game a year to show. The latest they will start any other game is at 5 pm. The SECs primetime contract is with ESPN so they get to show the SEC nightgame except on the one week that CBS has it. CBS also always gets first pick of the games every week except for one time when ESPN gets to pick first. CBS will have first pick of UT-FL or LSU-Auburn. Whoever they pick will be a 3:30 game, ESPN will pick up the other game which will be at night. CBS is going to save their primetime game for later in the year when they have a double header. Last year it was for LSU-UF, I'm thinking they will probably take that game again for primetime this year unless there are two higher ranked SEC teams playing each other.

Cool. You can't be all bad :) I know you will have an incredible time, especially if you have never been to a UT game

Edit: P.S. You better be wearing orange, and not some Michigan t-shirt :)

Geez! Give me some credit. I'll be picking up a jersey when I'm in Knoxville in a couple weeks (assuming I can get Berry, Foster or Crompton) if not then I have my Rocky Top shirt. After our home games, I usually come home for some dinner then head out to the bar where my buddy DJs with my Rocky Top shirt on to catch the SEC nightcap (and counter his UGA jersey.)
