they fill the walkways with people. Atleast thats what they done at the ut v bama game in 2007. I was sitting about 50 rows up from the ut bench and you could look around the stadium and see some of the walkways and in some spots you couldn't even tell there was a walkway in that section. 9th largest crowd in ut history and unfortunately it was the last time we beat bama.

How does that work? Who are these 3k people who manage to get in and counted without buying tickets?

(BTW not calling you a liar. I've always wondered about this)

Im pretty sure they count the staff and teams in the official attendence, but i might be wrong, heard that from a friend and it would make sense.

Sometimes games will sell standing room only tickets, and you'll see em all standing behind seats and on stairs and whatnot.

I think around 7,500 range. Rough estimate. Might be more. I seem to remember once that it was a SEC rule certain percentage of your seats must be made available during conference games, but don't remember what that number was.

But what are the risks of getting ripped off by scalpers? That's the only thing I'm apprehensive about. Is there any way to tell right there on the spot if they're fake?

Never had that happen from a scalper before, but I have a buddy who had that happen by buying from guy on Craigslist.

Just make sure they are not some kind of home printed ticket.

Read date and opponent.. etc

Hopefully you have seen a ticket stub before and know what they look like.

how many tickets did florida return exactly?

i was so sick of seeing so many of their fans make the 2006, 08, 10 games. It used to drive me insane.

For reference to this year's excitement:
in 2006 I got student tix
in 2008 I had to buy tix while I took a hiatus from the great University of Tennessee (I was at the 'Sip). I got tix in upper level for 50 bucks a piece. Everyone boo'd Fulmer.
in 2010 I had my student ticket but my best friend forgot his ticket at home (we lived in the Rocky Hill area, too far to risk driving), so we scalped tix at 30 bucks a pop right at kickoff.
