Florida Fans...What Are They Smoking?

One of those LSU posters when asked what he was smoking said, and I quote, "I'm smoking something called Dave Aranda".

K then..

I mean there is sunshine pumping and then there is pure delusion.

A little too much purple Kool-Aid for sure, but there was a lot to like for one night for sure. LSU's most complete game since 2011 and maybe the best offense showing in my memory. Of course, it was Missouri, and LSU traditionally stuffs the quick spread teams but this was a little different. What I noticed was LSU just killed Missouri's will to even play within about half way through the first quarter.

I think this will be a good measuring stick for both teams, I am definitely not predicting the same results as last week. As long as there is progression and not regression I think it will be fine.

I think LSU has more talent than Florida. They are somewhat similar. Strong defensive based teams. I hope Ed O tries a fake field goal, a fake punt and an on-side kick.

He was aggressive for sure I think LSU's first 5 plays were pass plays (when has that ever happened under Les, never)... and he went for a 4th and 2 early in the game. (which they didn't get) I thought they should have taken the FG but it showed the team and the fans that there is a new way of doing business.

Coach O changed quite a few things, but nothing radical, just tempo and attitude more than anything. The only thing that stands out... it would have been nice to see Etling hit a couple of the deep balls.

I think the LSU-UF game will be a good gauge as to where each team really stands.

Fine, I'll be that guy. I think Florida has a chance to win the east. They have a much easier West division schedule this year. LSU and Arkansas. If Del Rio plays, they will most likely beat both of those teams. They may even beat them with Appleby.

At some point Tennessee's luck is going to dry up and those injuries on defense is going to catch up with them. Probably the next two weeks.

I may be completely wrong.

You're wrong on the first part...nothing I've seen from our supposed all-world defense leads me to believe we can stop LSU or Arkansas on the ground. And Jacob Eason is growing into a monster.

UF has another 3-4 losses coming.

They are still in it with a manageable schedule. LSU just fired their coach and will be a toss up week to week, Georgia is on the ropes with two losses now. When you look at Tennessee's schedule it isn't hard to find two losses. If we were in the same position I would still be holding out hope too.

We are playing with a backup qb and uninspired OL play. They need to trim rb rotation down to 2 and move on. Early game in a half empty stadium will do that to you.

Florida's main problem is not a lack of talent. They have plenty of very athletic players. Their arrogance has just undermined them. Being beaten by Tennessee was a comeuppance. But for them not to dominate Vanderbilt is more of a hard dose of reality.

They will do one of two things; they can fold like a cheap suit or swallow their arrogance, refocus to salvage the season, and try to win out. And I know that includes LSU and Florida State.

But after yesterday, I feel nearly every team they face could be even more screwed up than they are. The Gators can finish respectable if they park their ego, shut their mouths, and work for it. You seem to think they won't, but I have a feeling they will.

But the Vols need to go at it like the world is nipping at their heals, and give A&M no chance at having momentum. They are two games up on both Florida and Georgia for the SEC-E title. Keep it that way.

Up 3 on Georgia due to the Ole Miss loss too.

Looks like its going to be a backup game this week... lots of guys out for LSU and UF.

Early game in a half empty stadium after getting our ass whipped by Tennessee the week before, thusly deflating our overly arrogant & cocky team (though we've won nothing of significance in 8 years and we should have been neither arrogant nor cocky), will do that to you.

:eek:k:

Depth and conditioning being a concern I don't Florida beats Arky or LSU. Strong running and just enough passes to keep it interesting.

Should be an interesting game, a good portion of Florida's defensive line will miss the game as well as a good portion of LSU's offensive line. Also, a few defensive guys could be out as well on LSU's side plus Fournette probably isn't going to play.

This has the makings of an ugly, low scoring, defensive struggle. I'd be surprised if Del Rio doesn't play - the more Appleby plays, the worse he looks. It also looks like there is a chance of very bad weather if the Hurricane slows down and keeps moving west, Rain, high winds, and 2 crappy former Purdue qb's = ugly offense. Hope LSU wins but something tells me UF pulls it out.

Game might be moved. Unsure where this is played, if LSU flies in on Friday its flying into a Cat 3 hurricane situation. although it looks like it stays offshore right now.

I am hearing possible Superdome but nothing concrete yet.... Baton Rouge would probably get low attendance.... New Orleans makes sense as it appears the Georgia Dome is booked.

Florida don't play worth a crap the week after Ga. Normally its Vandy and they survive. This year is FayetteNam....I don't think they'll be so lucky.

I vote to move it to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. Start time of about 9:00 pm on Saturday night. Free tickets, corndogs, and liquor for everyone who attends. Let Mike the Tiger roam free during the game to make it more interesting.

If required, LSU can go to Gainesville the next two years.

Just my nickel...

Yea. Sounds like Saturday should be good but flying in on Friday doesn't sound smart, and that is assuming the hurricane doesn't do a bunch of damage. It doesn't make sense to fly a team into that... maybe a delay of the game might work.... fly in Saturday morning?????

Update. Workers are being told to be prepared for a game at Tiger Stadium, although its only an option right now... no decision has been made.

I think the SEC front office would just tell LSU to fly on Thursday if they're worried.

So fly to a potential hurricane zone to wait out a hurricane?

My guess, the wait a little longer to pull the plug, just setting up options if they need to pull it tomorrow. LSU hosted SC last year that they had to make the call by noon on Wednesday.

I don't think people understand how it works... people bug out of town... all those interstates could end up being parking lots like in 2004. It's really not about the weather on game day, although it looks like they are talking about 40+mph wind right now.

Update: UF has issued a statement that the game hasn't changed yet but they are monitoring the situation.

Need to cancel Gainesville for this weekend. I wouldn't fly LSU over there anytime based on this forecast.

I would fly the Gators to Baton Rouge tomorrow or Thursday as needed.

Forgot about that deal you did with South Carolina last year. That seemed to work as well as possible. My first vote would be a repeat of that plan.

Florida has just issued a statement.

Seems like Fournette might take issue of flying into a hurricane zone considering what happened to him last time. :) I think a late Saturday game could work there but then you get into a possible cancellation issue if the storm is bad.... meaning damage or services cut.

Eh, LSU still has great talent and maybe a new lease on the season with "Yaw Yaw". Thats the more possible L of the 3. I think UF goes 2-1, at worse 1-2 in that stretch. FSU isn't showing much either.
