Florida fans don't really hate Vol fans

I used to think that Tebow would stay all four years just because he loves it. But I am starting to think that if UF wins big on 1/8, then if the NFL committee tells him he is first round, he might well take the money and go, figuring to finish up in the offseason.

When I was in law school I used to see Emmit Smith, after he had gone to the NFL, in the Spring semester. I think he came back and finished that way. It can be done for someone who really wants it.
Regardless if tebow makes it in the nfl or not, he's a special player. Those don't come around to often. Good for us he's about done, enjoy the rest of his time there. He will not be easily replaced and i'm grateful for that.

100% agree with Lawgator on that...I don't see ND in Urban's future. I could see NFL, but ND, recruiting is tougher for one reason, academics.

This is most likely his last College stop before pros.

I am differing on the thought that Tebow is leaving, I don't see it. He is going to be a Pro QB, I see a lot of Donovan McNabb in Tim. But I see him staying one more year.

Agreed,
If they have a great talent behind him, it will still be a big a drop off at that position. He is the reason the Gators win Jan.8.

If tebow wins the national title again, i don't see him coming back. He might hurt his draft status by staying another year. Give those guys more time to pick apart his game and tell everyone why he won't make a good nfl qb. If they win it, he'll go.

I don't see Meyer in the NFL. I don't think Tebow hurts or helps his draft status by coming back.

I definitely think he couldn't help it any more. Two national titles, two sec titles and a boat load of big sec wins. He has had about as good a college career as someone could ask for. Come back, get hurt, not be as productive, those are the risks. He may come back anyway, but i hope not.

Notre Dame needs someone like Charlie Strong or Randy Shannon. Someone that can recruit for them now and get them back on the road to success. I think they do better with someone young, hungry, and tireless.
Weiss is a good recruiter, check his classes out.

I personally would choose FL over ND any day, but not because of recruiting. It would take nothing for Meyer to get his players in there. ND stinks and they still rake in top 10 classes (#2 last year per Rivals). Knowing Urban's track record, if he went to ND, they'd be a national contender, if not NC, by year 2.

True,
Did not consider injury in my post, but wait......................
He's SUPERMAN,
SUPERMAN does not get hurt.:superman:

That is true going back to Gerry Faust. I believe he had the number one recruiting class in the country his first year, and yet he barely had a .500 record for his four or five years at ND.

Wow. How can you see Donovan McNabb in Tebow? Tebow is a comparable runner but in no way has anything close to McNabb's ability as a passer. Tebow will not be an NFL QB except in short-yardage situations. Also, what would Meyer do in the NFL? Unless the spread option catches on(which it won't) then there is no way he ever coaches in the NFL.

Agree with the Meyer take, but Tebow will be a NFL QB, may not be a GREAT one, but will be one none the less.

Only in specific situations. Nobody is going to draft Tebow to be a franchise QB. Have you ever seen him make a throw that made you go "Wow, how did he throw that ball that well?" Tebow's toughness is amazing and he can make throws with defenders on him that other guys could never complete. However, an NFL QB requires an elite level of accuracy and ability to read a defense. I have not seen Tebow demonstrate either of those.

His game has upgraded over the last 3 years, he made some passes against bama he could not have made last year.

NFL teams won't waste a pick on a QB that can't play every down at that position.

And I know people will mention players like Vince Young to refute my post above. Vince Young is not an elite passer or decision-maker but he has the ability to win with his legs. Tebow will not be able to rely on his legs in the NFL because he doesn't have the speed/elusiveness and will take too many big hits. If he can develop a better ability to stay in the pocket and make throws then his run/pass combination could be the best ever but I don't see him smart enough or accurate enough.

Agreed, but not nearly to an NFL level. His throws need to be like that all the time.

NFL teams won't waste a pick on a QB that can't play every down at that position.

Exactly why I don't see him as an NFL QB. I always thought FB(if he decided to play in the NFL) but Mel Kiper's idea of HB is perfect. Tebow has a unique blend of power and athleticism that can be used in the NFL but I don't see how you would use him at QB on a regular basis.

Are U talking about being a Starting QB within 2 or 3 years of being drafted?
Or he couldn't be a backup?

I don't see him as a great NFL QB, but they won't pass up the chance to draft a guy with that ability for a backup QB role.

I would have taken Tebow over Young before he went to the Titans.

So we are safe for, what, another 5 or 6 years?

Now that could take a lot longer. Could be decades.

Spreading your holiday cheer I see. Good luck against the Sooners. My desire for the SEC to do well is stronger than my dislike for the Gators.

Yes, he could probably be an NFL backup but that means he won't go in the 1st round and will be back next year. From listening to him and reading interviews, I doubt he will be in the NFL long and definitely not as a backup QB. He is too competitive to ride the pine and has a lot of plans to minister to people. My guess is that he will sign a short contract to make some money and be out of the league in a few years to do what he really wants with his life.

You maybe right,
This dude has the extra things that the great ones have tho'.
I respect his talent and his character.

I hope he leaves, but I doubt he does.

And you may be right too. I have the utmost respect for Tebow as a person and a competitor. He will go down as one of the greatest college athletes of all time and rightfully so(despite my hatred of the gators). I just think he is a rare talent that doesn't fit in to the professional game.

the old pee in the beer bottle trick, the gator fans love that one.

the people that do those sort of things are hall of fame douche bags.

i'm going to go out on a limb here, but i would guess most gator fans aren't like that. hope not at least.

:post-4-1090547912:

I went to a game in Gainseville one year when we beat them.. I remember I was abour 12-13 years old and after the game I wanted a picture with the huge gator mascot the have outside of the stadium.. Next thing I know before my dad could even take the picture I had some 50 yr old man trying to fight me and yelling a whole bunch of obscenties at my father and I... Quite hiliarious..
