Florida fans don't really hate Vol fans

I can tell you, being from central florida, Gator fans do not hate Vol fans. 99% of the issues you have are with beligerent or drunk students. Please don't judge all of us.

Hopefully Lane can get you headd in the right direction, I think he will definitely get the ball rolling that way.

Yes they do. I guess Central Florida doesn't have the redneck Gator fans that Jacksonville has.

My stance on bama softened when we kept beating them every year. Let us beat the gators two or three times in a row, then see how they feel.

They're right. When one side owns the recent series, it's easy to be gracious.

Tennessee fans don't hate Kentucky fans on the football field either, but get them on the basketball court and see if tempers don't flare up just a little...

you may be right.

although, after a game in gainesville, i once had a little kid (no older than 10) tell me to "suck my...", an older gentleman followed that up with "yeah!".

i've been all over and i can tell you, i've never been heckled as much as after a loss in gainesville. however, after the occasional win, they're as nice as can be.

I didn't find the gator fans down there to be particularly nice after the 2001 win.

I know what you mean..i was there in 2001 and I had a number of fans come up to us and wish us luck against Miami and not a word was said. In 2005 I had a kid in a wheel chair yell over at me, "you suck" lol funniest thing ever

My uncle who went to Gainesville in 2001 and got hit in the head with a beer bottle full of pee for no reason would disagree.....

the old pee in the beer bottle trick, the gator fans love that one.

the people that do those sort of things are hall of fame douche bags.

i'm going to go out on a limb here, but i would guess most gator fans aren't like that. hope not at least.

I agree with this. Most of my gator friends want UT to do well except against them. Gator fans seem to look down on UT(mainly due to our former coach) more than dislike us. Their dislike is mostly for FSU, UGA and Miami. However, it doesn't take true hatred for a Gator fan to be a cocky jerk to visiting fans.

I dislike the gators as much as anybody but that isn't one-sided. Gator fans have been killed at Neyland and that is much more serious. The gators certainly have more hecklers and jerks but they also have a much younger gameday crowd than UT and I'm sure that plays a part.

I hope you are right about most gator fans, however, the ones I met all brag about the "yellow bombers". I still have very little use for gator fans.

Well to be honest, UF fans didn't care about the UT game until that drubbing we got in Knoxville 45-3. That started us caring about a game outside of UGA and FSU. Our main rivals through our history were Georgia, FSU and Auburn, they have a LONG history for us. The UT rivalry is now #2 behind GA. FSU's mediocrity has dropped them to third and Auburn is now non-existant as far as passion for UF fans. I still remember the elation of beating UT in Gainesville in '91, we went nuts in the stadium, sweet revenge and we had knocked Andy Kelly out of the game. memories....lord I am old..

Also remember, we didn't care about winning in Gainesville until the ol' ball coach came to town, before that we only wanted to drink at the Purple Porpoise and party at Ben Hill.........

I totally remember that 45-3 beat down in Knoxville... You forgot one detail about that game... it was in what felt like a hurricane! It was absolutely pouring like crazy the entire game. I remember having my rain coat off!!?? swinging it above my head!! Ah, those were the days... Kiffin will bring us back to memories like that very soon. GO VOLS and Merry X-Mas!

I think the worst fans are the bull dawgs. I've been to the dawgs stadium twice, both times the little frat boy punks tried to run there mouth. I was fortunate to leave both times with a win.
