Florida cancels game vs Northern Colorado

The latest storm update was the worse case scenario for Florida as the storm turned west and now appears to be coming straight up the Florida Peninsula.

My concern is, if 50+ players and coaches have their homes and properties destroyed and literally have the lives of family members in danger, I don't know that the Florida-Tennessee game gets played the following week.

This is bad.

it may be the battered vol in me, but we lost to the worst team FL has fielded in 2 decades a couple years ago. at home.

forgive me if i'm hesitant to throw this hay in the barn.

That 2014 team wasn't that bad, they were lights out on defense and Worley made too many stupid throws.

Could go either way, that game could have given them a chance to work out some kinks as well.

Without a game to work out that disaster they call an offense. We'll get practice this weekend to get better, and we'll get our young guys much needed work this weekend as well. Advantage Vols. If this was week 6 that might be an advantage for them. But it's week 2. Big advantage for us imo.

The track shows 125-150 mph winds in Gainesville/Jacksonville area on Monday. 4-5 days later a football game is played? There's a possibility there wont even be power in the Gainesville area, let alone police/fire/rescue personnel to work the game.

And for the "move the game" crowd. What if Florida has half its team and coaches helping with family devastation back home?

Best thing right now, is everyone pray for this monster to turn east. Way more important things than football.

My bigger point was/is, forget the Northern Colorado game, if this thing devastates Florida, the Tennessee game is in serious danger.

All joking aside If the game is not played tho, I just hope everyone is okay. My prayers and thoughts go it to all the players and families of the area. :(

Depending on damage from Irma, the UT game may get cancelled or moved and there is another Hurricane right on the heels of Irma.

Weather Channel says Category 1 Hurricane into Georgia Monday night and as far as Knoxville with 45mph winds Tuesday afternoon. Gonna disrupt a lot of football. That GT win was big. So will a big win, gain experience, heal some injured players next 2-3 weeks. I agree Gainesville will be a mess if current forecast accurate.

I was kidding, but as much as I would hate to have to reschedule that game or lose it there are much more important than football.

And one of those are human lives.

I could of sworn a few of there players only got two game suspensions

I know the Robinson kid got a one game suspension, but his came for weed, and was not an eligibility issue. I'm pretty sure Callaway and company are suspended indefinitely, pending reinstatement by the NCAA.

Honestly, I think this helps us and hurts them. They were a mess against Michigan. Getting an extra game of live reps to figure out their offense would have helped them. Now, they have to go into a second straight brutal game with no idea about their QB situation. Plus, it's already almost Friday. They won't get that much extra rest or prep time for our game.

Honestly, the biggest question now is how does Coach McElwain handle the suspensions. He has led people to believe the Michigan game wasn't the only punishment for those 10 players. I believe most of us thought that was referring to the fact he would probably spend them for their warm-up game, act like he properly punished them, and then they would be back for TN.

So what does he do now? Go back on his word and say they have been punished enough? I am truly interested to see if as a coach in one of is biggest games of the season he has the stones to stick to his guns. I highly, highly doubt it.
